  Oddly enough, it was the US that refused to sign it first, and then everyone followed us. I find this odd considering the government has been trying to censor the internet here for the past two or three years...

  Pretty much this. On one hand we end up as a tyrannical government oppressing the masses (political). On the other hand we bow down before corporations and be their little bitch (enforcement of copyright).
  
  Either way it sucks. Not to say that I approve of piracy cause I don't.
