rap at its very best my friends.
In all seriousness though, I didn't like rap and hip-pop mainly because they were just too mainstream, and on top of that lack certain sophistications because of mostly repeating tones and lyrics.
I don't hate all of them though, I occasionally listen to LLCoolJ and MCHammer.
Music is very subjective so really there is no bad music just obscure musics.
For me, I like Rock and Jazz, not together though. And don't confuse rock with death metal or heavy metal, I don't like screaming anymore than the rest of you.
One of my favourite music:

I'm not a huge fan of either. But if I had to pick one it would be hip-hop. The rap I hear on the radio is just...annoying, in my opinion. The only rap artist I actually search up would be Eminem; I just like his voice and some of the things he sings about.
I listen to all kinds of music--even some rap. It's just not my favorite.

I forgot to mention, another rapper that I actually really: Azealia Banks.
I hated her stuff when I first heard it. But it's grown on me. Specially the weird ass video for Atlantis.

Quote from Emeraldsun;993407:
I agree with you Loki, I look at hip-hop and rap as poetry for the most part. Yeah there is a lot about drugs and sex but many genre have that.
If you listen to lyrics carefully you can find that kind of trash among many genre. It's often easier to hear it in rap and hip-hop due to the lyrics being so simple when it's that kind of stuff. It doesn't take much to understand slow shit talk. However, you can still find decent things if you actually care to look rather than just listen to whats promoted more.
Oh yeah, most definitely. Especially in songs I liked when I was a kid, I'm relistening now and going "the fuck, this song is so...dirty...oh god"

I like raps that does not have excessive cursing and bad rhyming. I also like ones with soft beat and instruments (piano normally).

I looooove rap and hip hop. Even the dumb, repetitive songs that have absolutely nothing to do with anything. It's mostly because I don't usually care much for the words, but the beat. I work out, clean, study and drive to rap/hip hop, and it sounds dumb, but the beat ad bass keep me going.

I don't care for it, mainly because anyone I've seen who've been crazy about the genres have been heavy into gangs, drugs, violence, and the thug life.

I used to be a big rap fan, but it kind of died out when things got a little repetitive.
No, I'm not a "thug" or a drug user of any sort. Quite the opposite, actually.
Never drank or smoked or did anything remotely related to gang violence/activities.
Rap is alright sometimes, but the themes get repeated far too often. (Though you can say this about any genre, really.)
Sometimes rap is unnecessary, or ruins songs imo. Other than that, it can be very catchy for the right songs.
I went from hip-hop, rap, r&b, all the way to alternative rock/hard rock. ;_;

I think people are entitled to their own opinion. Some people don't like most of the rap genre because the lyrical emphasis /is/ about sexdrugsmoneyviolenceguns etc, I think that's a legitimate reason not so.
I also don't like songs that focus on that, heck I don't like a lot of stuff in the mainstream that doesn't put any meaning into their lyrics. Take Justin Bieber for example. He can sing, he dance, he can play multiple instruments, but I still don't like his music because of the shallowness of the lyrics when I comapre to something like Coldplay.
That being said, I don't hate all rap, I'm quite fond of Transit.
