How many people would be interested in setting up a Thaumcraft 3 server?

  Recently I've tried out the Thaumcraft 3 mod, and I'm very impressed.
  The mod centers around using various items to research new uses for your magic and then using Vis to utilize them. Vis comes from 'Aura Nodes' that are scattered throughout the world. Every node has a different maximum amount of Vis. Some are large, some are small. If their Vis is above or below their max, they try to return to normality, and in doing so, they generate Flux.
  Flux can manifest itself in the world in a variety of ways. The most common way is the spontaneous generation of wisps, little balls of light that float around and simply shock you if you get too close.
  
  Those of you that appreciate automation will be happy to hear that Thaumcraft has a full selection of utilities for automation, such as Hungry chests that eat items that touch it and golems with intelligence to perform a wide variety of tasks like harvesting, sorting items in chests, transporting items, or even helping you perform research.
  
  Hosting should not be an issue.
  
  I'm looking for ACTIVE PLAYERS. If you only want to log in like once a week to place 4 blocks, forget it.

  I tried Thaumcraft 2 and was scared of the Taint when I first came across it. Then tried in a different world and couldn't get any taint when I actually wanted it.
  
  Either way, I can set aside Runescape to try Thaumcraft 3 and see how it is.
  
  I guess I might be considered semi-active. I'm not going to be on every single day but you can count on me being online at least 2-4 times a week for 3-4 hours.
  
  I have other games I'm doing so I don't have all my free time to devote to Minecraft as there's still Mabi and Runescape fun to be had.

  Isn't there some negative effects if you mess around with the aura through? Similar to how Taint did.

  using Magic Launcher, it's very easy to instal mods. One click and it's done.

  The negative effects of Flux include Wisps, 'mysterious illness', random strikes of lightning, random storms, etc.. I saw a block named 'blockFluxGoo' in the TMI menu but I have yet to encounter it. I assume it's either not implemented or reserved for very bad flux situations.

  Well best prepare to cobblestone generators then for lots of research. I already have some initial plans for the theoritical thaumcraft server.
  
  First of course is to make the standard base to stockpile the preliminary supplies. Nothing too special about this step.
  
  Second step is to mass create stone bricks (my favorite building block of choice)
  
  Third step is to create my Sky Lab in which I will do all my Thaumcraft research. Only way to access it will be via a waterfall hatch that I'll open and close as needed going into a pool below so that the water doesn't spread out haphazardly.
  
  Final step is to enjoy Thaumcraft while sipping on tea.

  sadly for you King.. reasearch is based on the various elements of item.. spamming the same item will probably not get you a single research done.

  Ah so they changed that then. Before you had to use a crap ton of the same item or lots of any item in general to research lost knowledge which was extremely tedious, time consuming and boring.
  
  Did they make it easier to research things in thaum3 vs thaum2?
  
  I also recall requiring lots and lots and lots of paper. So much paper/cobblestone/books just to start using the damn thing :cryno:

  Research in thaumcraft2 was make research table, shove paper in one slot. Throw in a crap ton of items in the other slots. Go afk, come back and hope that you managed to uncover something.
  
  Tedious, boring, time consuming, and most of the time you ended up with nothing. (Early on that is. It got better as you progressed)

  you still need paper and you need a research table(very easy to make).
  You look up what kind of research you can do using the main book. (this book is like the Wiki of the skill)
  for example.. take the Nitor item which is an magic fire. You need to reasher how to create that item by doing extensive research on items that would have similar proprieties, for example, a torch. You may find that you need other proprieties to finish your research but luckily.. by pressing Shift, you can see all the proprieties of all items you have.
  
  
  Also I have tested mystcraft and thaumcraft togeter. I cannot seem to be able to detect any aura in a void world I created.
