Alright so I replaced a few MP3 files with different ones because yeah some of the music in Mabinogi is just very annoying and I had changed it on my old client before.
And everything went fine. I logged into Dunbarton and the file there played perfectly fine...but the moment I left the music was not music!
It was horrific satanic screeching and bleeping and blooping and just "screeeeee blkdfjsdglfgshkdfj boop boop boop" sounds.
I checked the files and they played fine and weren't corrupt or anything...so I'm at a loss.
Any help?

Explain this a little in detail?
What did you do EXACTLY, from the time you logged in?

You sure it's not because of your speakers or sound drivers?

I logged in and turned on BGM. Dunbarton's changed music played fine even when I left and returned to it, it's just everywhere else where the music was just a series of glitched sounds.

100% positive.
I reverted my folder back to default, but I'll change it back when I get home and I'll record it.

Where did you get the music files? Because the sound seems exactly what happened when I accidentally messed with something on Audacity.
If this isn't the case, go to your mabinogi folder, and see if you can play the music with your own music players; if it's normal on your own music players, it might have something to do with the encoding of your music.

They're files straight from an OST so I didn't mess with them at all, but I just ran it through my audio converter and now it works so it was probably an encoding issue. (didn't think of that of course)
Thanks for the help!

Maybe try having your music in mp3 format? Unless it already is.
