This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. I've tried re-installing, restarting my computer
Accessing my firewall and adding it to it to the list to accept.. Tried manual patching, tried starting it from the C: file itself.
No idea whats wrong. Any tips? :hot:

I seriously got this computer less than 3 days ago and it's already giving me problems. Fuck windows 8 if that ends up being the problem.. which I wouldn't be surprised =.=

use a virtual xp untill they fix the game for windows8 (or windows 8 fx itself)
that or install xp/7 on it

i hate how they sell computers with windows-insert last relese here- embedded on them
you indeed pay for the computer AND the windows licence when you buy it.

I seriously just got this computer and I don't want to do anything major with it o___e..
I guess I can't even play a game I bought a new computer for.

Blame HackShield, not Windows 8. :( But it's quite possible that Windows 8 is involved, as Kyouria got a new machine with Windows 8 on it as well, and was having a similar issue last week: http://mabination.com/threads/64436-Client.exe-Error-Can-t-Login

As for what you can do? Hard to say. NA Mabi doesn't officially support Windows 8 yet, AFAIK. KR or TW released support for Win 8 not long ago, so it may take some time for us to get that update. Whether or not that will resolve your specific issue, however, I cannot say for sure. D:

You can try running the HackShield updater (HSUpdate.exe) manually to see if perhaps that will convince behave better.
Also, check with your laptop's support page if you've got all the latest drivers (video, sound, etc). Bad drivers could cause memory issues.
Windows also has a built in physical memory health testing tool called Windows Memory Diagnostic. You should try running it a few times (can be auto set to repeat) to make sure that your computer's memory isn't defective.

I know you've already tried reinstalling, but this may suggest that it's a random error that may go away on its own. O_o
You could also try closing all programs before you launch Mabi, as I recall there was a weird bug related to that a while ago.

...but that's better than having to buy the OEM license yourself at like twice the cost, lol. It's a pretty decent deal. And some manufacturers do let you choose the OS. :)

I'm having the same issue and every Windows 8 user is having this issue from what I can tell on the Nexon forums.

We have to wait for Nexon to eventually fix it or find a way to install Windows 7. I know I have a Windows 7 installation disk laying around but I don't want to erase my hard drive to install the OS :(

I don't see why you wouldn't want to. Windows 8 has sucked so bad for me at least. I can honestly say that I think windows 8 is far worse than anything Vista ever did to me. Wonder how long it'll take Nexon to get it's shit together. Or Windows 8 to stop sucking. Or even for Microsoft to stop being a douchebag and sell me a system that isn't made for a touch screen/actually give me an option to choose an OS.

Well it looks like I can do it using the windows.old folder but I think I need my old Windows 7 installation disk which I can't find.

Oh well, guess I'm still on hiatus from mabi then until they fix it.
