Just trying to find more manga of this genre, because they seem to be so damned rare.
By disaster/apocalypse I don't mean post-apocalyptic where the world has settled, I mean where everything is going perfectly fine and then suddenly everything goes to shit and people have to survive.
It can be zombies or other weird crap (my favorite), natural disasters or similar things.
Here's the few good ones I've read to give you an idea of what I'm looking for.
Maybe we can turn this into a list of this type of stuff.

The Meteor -

Psyren -

I read Psyren last year and I liked it a lot. The meteor had potential, but I think it ended early.

I actually love this genre. Try Cage of Eden, Mahou Shoujo of the [S]Dead[/S] End, Kami-sama no Iutoori and Cradle of Monsters. I would definitely recommend all of these.
Aphorism, Shingeki no Kyojin, Psyren, Hoshi no Samidare (The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer Manga) and AREA D - Inou Ryouiki are a bit more shounen.
EDIT: Some of them comes to mind, but I can't remember their names. D:
EDIT2: Suicide Island (love this author), Btooom, Deadman Wonderland, Mirrai Nikki (does Big Order count? Probably not), Kanojo o Mamoru and Gantz.
For realistic survival manga: Suicide Island and Kanojo o Mamoru would come to mind.
For more fantasy manga focused on survival: Cage of Eden, Mahou Shoujo of the End, Kami-sama no Iutoori and Cradle of Monsters. Maybe even Shingeki no Kyojin.
Everything else is a bit more focused on battles.
One I did not read and hear good things about is Battle Royale.

Alive The Last Evolution and Biomeat are great too. You probably know HoTD too already.

Alive is not post apocalyptic...
As for recommendation, Blame! and biomega, Deadman wonderland is somehow post apocalyptic, Hotel and wolf's rain, didn't read the last 2 but heard they're good.
Most of the "survive on the disaster scene" were already mentioned though.

I totally forgot about cage of eden, I read a whole lot of that but quit waiting for updates. I should continue reading it.

I'm actually -not- looking for post-apocalyptic, more for survival when the "apocalypse" first starts.
Though Blame! is awesome and pretty much anything by Nihei.

Managed to read a bunch more of these suggestions:
- Bio Meat (this was weird but pretty awesome
- The Meteor
- Suicide Island
- caught up to latest chapter of Cage of Eden
Going to try and read some more of them if any match up with what I'm looking for

Have you read Uzumaki by Junji Ito?
Also what I would consider apocalyptic, and it's one of my favorite set of stories by him. (they all surround the same town.)

wouldn't Cage of Eden be a Post-Apocalypse type?
Depends where the story goes but as far as we currently know the world is fine, they're just in the future or something screwed up. But until the last chapter it was pretty much just a plane crash survival in a really screwed up land.
wouldn't bewen thrown into a post apocalyptic world where they are the only remaining human be pretty much the same than?
If so you could give 7 Seeds a try.

If it has survival as the focus it's fine, even if it's post-apocalypse.
What I'm not looking for is post-apocalypse where people have gotten used to it, like TTGL's setting, or survival but based on battles like Area D (even though I read Area D anyways because it was good, but I don't think it fits in this thread).
