Copypasta from old thread:
Anyone complaining that this isn't a Mabinogi replacement is dumb because it's not meant to be a Mabinogi, they can do this with the current Mabinogi and not make replacement. It's meant to exist alongside Mabinogi and Mabinogi Heroes/Vindictus and presents a different sort of game compared to either (also do people even remember what mabi essentially was back in C1?). If you don't like it you don't have to play! Your option is to continue playing Mabinogi!
Anyway regarding the video, from left to right the four characters are labelled:
Ringring
Weapon Class: Wandering minstrel
Fighting Style: Trickster
Character Body: Shorty
Nonomi
Weapon Class: Prosecutor (???)
Fighting Style: Landwalker
Character Body: (can't make it out)
Sparrow
Weapon Class: Archer
Fighting Style: Technician
Character Body: Slender
Dark Colossus
Weapon Class: Warrior/fighter
Fighting Style: (dunno, bear dragger?)
Character Body: I think hunk? O_o
These characters in question were premade for the demo . The demo itself is an extremely basic demo of the basic gameplay, it doesn't even showcase the "arena" aspect of the dungeons nor any others which may or may not exist (eg, crafting, an overworld, life skills, etc). Going by information elsewhere you pick one of five weapon classes, one of five fighting styles and one of five body types. Using the above as an example, you might have an Archer with a Trickster fighting style and the Dark Colossus's body type. Or a Warrior Technician Shorty. Assuming any one choice doesn't exclude the others this makes for 125 different combinations. Assuming that for combat gameplay the body type makes little or no difference and it's primarily weapon class and fighting style which determines how your character plays there's still 25 possible combinations.
Lore wise this doesn't take place in the world of Mabinogi that we know, instead in takes place in "Avalon" with little detail as to what exactly entails Avalon (it could be a whole new world/dimension/universe, it could be a yet undiscovered island in Erinn, it could be a special space like soul stream). As such it might as well be that certain "rules" that we know in regards to the races in Mabinogi don't apply in Mabinogi II (eg, giants are from Physis, elves are from Connous). The major lore is that the Gods (so far, Nuadha, Cichol, Morrighan, Macha and Neamhain are all shown in promotional art along with a female garbed in similar fashion to Cichol called Ehune) are waging a proxy war (someone else does the fighting in their place) and the milletians are involved. So it may well be that giants/elves human are merely a cosmetic choice and little else.

I hear that. like I just said in another thread
If they are making a an altogether different game, then why even call it Mabinogi?...
If they were going to make a better version of Mabinogi, they'd do it with Mabinogi and not make it a separate new game. It's not like families of games with similar names yet different gameplay are new. Guild Wars is a recent example. If you want to play Mabi then you can keep on playing Mabinogi.
Financially though it'd seem it isn't in there interests to make a Mabi clone, games like DFO make a huge amount of money for Nexon. Mabinogi, not so much (DFO makes in one year almost as much as Mabi has over its entire lifetime as of Mid-2012)
