695 CP is too high because then zombies are awful to you. @_@

If you only want it for the backup, get it to R9 for the load decrease or R5 for the extra range.

Yeah I'ma watch the video real quick. Calc says 263.6 btw - what cp would you say is too high? *is thinking of ranking ranged and combat mastery higher*
696 if you don't have any -CP equips. Difficult armor takes off 100 CP and is pretty cheap(100k; 200k at max.)

There's someone on Mabination whose character is an elf, yet she has DAN 1 WINDMILL!
Quite amazing... it almost seems magical as she runs around with "Furious Master of Windmill" and catches everyone's attention.
Nonetheless, as a Dan 3 Windmiller, I know all the potentials of Windmill, much of which will shine as windmill is VERY compatible with ranged skills.
A small advice. Next time you have a chance, try loading Magnum in the windmill animation phase. You'll love how you'll be able to aim right away as you finish, even when the opponent is on the ground

You could go with Abysmal on a cooking pot if you're willing to pay the money for it or enchant it yourself/have someone else do it for you.
If not, you could go with smaller CP modifiers like Difficult, Damaging, Vicious, Small, etc. You could make a set and have really low CP with many items instead of low CP with one expensive item. If I remember correctly, Difficult has never gone for a lot, so you could probably get -100 CP just like that. I'm unsure on the prices of the others, but I don't think any of them are too terribly high.
If you want to look more into these, you can look

Yeah I've been finding using magnum shot directly after windmill works fairly well, since it gains more distance than just windmill does. Though I've been finding Temple Knights are like, impossible to kill with ranged, so I've had to stick to melee'ing them for the quest I'm doing at the moment. o.O

As long as you get it to rank 9, it's good as a lifesaver if you miss a shot.

If you are elf, get range and magmum to rank1 first, then train your combat skills... :D
I use melee when my bow reaches 0 dura or no arrows.
(Love using melee when Transed :D)

Are bears in general difficult to kill? Got a quest to kill manchurian white bears and I can barely do anything to even one bear, whether I use magnum shot, windmill, or none. >>

To be honest, since all your skill ranks are low killing one of those will be hard. Work on your WM or your Range and you'll be fine.
Oh, and I worked on Refining first for the extra dex, while I was training WM. I have an Elf w/1k lvls and while my WM does less as a rule, there are still times I use it instead of Range or Magnum Shot.

Um, as an elf, I can say that that's a bad idea.
1. WM first cause of CP.
2. Refine should be done before you start ranking your +Dex skills too much (You need failures to rank it up).

I Agree.
1. Elves have horrible melee skills without good support (enchants, well-upgraded weapons, etc) , especially with their nerfed windmill damage. Imagine trying to kill zombies with your only melee combat skill as windmill, it'd take 5 times longer than it would a human or giant.
2. Personal experience: R2 Refine = Novice Production Mastery, Filia Furnace, 0 Dex, Not Monday or Rain = 52% Mythril Success. That's pretty darn high when you need twice as many mythril failures than successes
