I'm really stuck when it comes to this shadow mission. If I dual wield, I take too much damage but if I use a Shield + Sword, it is way too slow and susceptible to the smallest mistake. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what strategy to take when clearing this Shadow Mission and/or what skills I should rank? (I'm mainly melee)
My total level is 415, so I'm running the Advanced version.
Combat Skills are as follows:
Combat Mastery: 5 [Rankable]
Critical Hit: 5
Smash: D [Rankable]
Defense: E [Rankable]
Counterattack: D [Rankable]
Final Hit: F [Rankable]
Charge: F [Rankable]
Windmill: 1
Icebolt: F
Firebolt: F
Stats:
STR: 118 (w/o title)
INT: 66
WILL: 125
LUCK: 19
I have 174 AP left to spend. The reason I have so much unused AP is that I wanted to finish Refine. (Hence why CM is at r5). I was also ranking Critical Hit as it trained itself. I suppose I could rank Combat Mastery to 1 and get -dex items when I want to return to Refining however I'd like everyone else's opinions.
My base dex is 50, so I'm.. somewhat safe when it comes to ranking refine? (Refine: r7 at the moment)
What skills would you guys recommend I rank to help me finish this mission and other future G10 missions? Please try to keep the added dex as low as possible, but I don't mind gaining 5-10 extra dex.
I find WM really helpful sometimes when I score a critical, but the -10% HP really endangers me especially if I make one tiny mistake.
Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Use a 2h weapon and windmill spam your way through the bone monsters since you don't have (high ranked) smash, they're single aggro (except for archers which are double) so you can pretty much abuse aggro lock on them.
As for me, I used a sword+shield with dual wield on secondary. Open ohko with smash, switch to shield for defense right after, then when the next mob hits the defense, switch to dual wield and n+windmill+def, repeat with occasional pet swipes for archers.

Load up Firebolt before hitting an orb, and immediately use it on an archer. If there is another, combo it to its quick death, then load an icebolt for whatever may be aggroing you.
It should work, make tweaks.

Ok, the 2h with WM sounds like a good idea, I'll give it a try.

upgraded weapons?
If you're still using NPC-level equipment, that's probably where you're going wrong with.
Seriously. I can create a new human with rF all skills and the strong equipment and probably beat a level 500+ in PvP
Since your dex is low, try upgraded Gladiuses?
If you're using properly upgraded weapons, I honestly don't know what to tell you...

After trying for days I just raged and decided to buy 1 Nao Stone in case I died :pissedoff:
I was careful the whole time, as in using a shield and bringing Band-Aids/HP Potions
Avoid using Windmill with this method, and having a few pets is great for aggro/archer :what:

All advice has been good, so with that aside, I could guide you with your skills. I am assuming you have rF Production Mastery. 50 base DEX with r7 refine is really good. As long as your Production Mastery is low, ranking Combat Mastery shouldn't have a huge negative impact on your refining. Combat Mastery is good as it is for now, though. I'm surprised that your Smash is still so low with all that AP, and Smash doesn't even give DEX. You should rank Smash to 1 or at least 5. That should really help out with damaging those bone guys.
Buy lots of HP pots and hotkey pets. I remember when I failed this mission a few times, and I bought like 100 HP pots. Then I really focused on fighting and summoning my horse to handle those pesky archers and other multi-aggro situations. I ended up using less than half of the pots that I bought!

Thanks for all the help guys. I got through the mission today, but in a rather cheap way.
I would transform and clear a switch at a time. After that I'd wait till 6am and take on the next switch with my transformation. Cheap, but hey it worked. :D
