is it worth it?
I was doing it because I intend to main it once it gets it to high enough ranks (and cause if I make it my main, I might as well rank it high up cause I won't get a chance to later on, and eventually I'd get to trying to rank it either way if I do play it for the rest of mabi life xD)
but then there's also the idea of, how exactly would dex benefit a giant (having like 130+ or 200+)
I might end up ranking refine all the way anyways but yeah
just looking for the ups and downs of it

Just balance, I guess :what:
I'm not too familiar with low-balance weapons since I'm an elf and have always had 80% balance, but I've heard of really low-balance upgraded weapons that high dex would help with.

other than the thing about "it's my main so I should get all the skills as soon as possible that I won't be able to rank later on"
there's also the injury rates

Well TBH, if your smart and pick the right weapons you will never need balance. If you have a violent untamed/ demi lich 232 dragon blade, you will out damage most humans with smash alone and with it you will have 80% balance even with 56 dext. If you choose the right weapons you will never need anything more than 60 dext, sure its a good idea to have more but for giants smash and windmill should be our main moves and really we shouldn't even use normal attacks.
This is all my opinion not fact but with a battle hammer / broad axe ego + a shield and sword combo should be a giants only choice in weapons since we were made for smashing things into oblivion.

Giants cannot get as much dex as elves or humans because they do not have ranged skills.
This means their balance is terrible in comparison to the other races.
The most powerful upgraded weapons (and many enchants) have very high damage ranges and low balance.
Unless you plan on using weak weapons or sacrificing other stats to get balance, you should get refine done.

i really dont think dext on a giant is that valuable, thats why i said picking the right weapons helps. My Brigan has only 3 weapons that he really uses all of which he has 80% balance with them. If you only focus on smash and use 2 handed weapons you can kill anything that stand in your way with very little effort, and he barely has dext. Im still going to work on refine just because it helps with prod mast, and i need the stam from it.

Most giants I see with high balance are those with Warhammer + Iron Mace Combo.
The Warhammer brings a hefty 84-87 max and around 20-30 critical but with zero balance. Where the Iron Mace brings 83 max with 12 critical but 33% dex. High dex is required for both weapons but beyond those two, if you're picky with your weapons, then you shouldn't have too much of a problem.
Though, the 60 balance 232 Dragon Blade has 95, where the 22 balance 215 Dustin Sword has 100 damage which I see my giant friend walk around with all the time.
But it depends on where you're taking your giant. The more dex, the more weapon flexibility, even if the damage difference is small. The Warhammer + Iron Mace combo requires a ridiculous 220+ dex to maximize. The Dustin Sword requires 170 dex for full balance and the Broad Axe ego requires 90 dex for full balance. Most of these weapons you're not gonna use for a long time since most weapons will suffice, especially as a giant. However, dex brings more options and as Geoff Desmoulin from Deadliest Warrior says "It's always the more options in the battlefield that give warriors the edge."

that show is so lame. as the spoony one put it "when do you fight just 1 spartan!? or just 1 ninja!?" i take Brigan into many different situations and his dmg balance maybe wide but he can outperform many humans with just smash alone. many strategies now just boil down to wm spam or smashmill, i cant even name one time when i was really in danger of being out damaged by any monster on him. most things hit me for maybe 20~50 dmg in any shadow mission.
In fact things should run from me in them. I use only 3 weapons as ive stated before, i dont use dual blunts because i dont need to, if you smash with them theyre weak they do almost nothing. If you wm with them sure you may get more dmg but i can still outperform people dual wielding and wm spamming with just my dragon blade alone.

you need about 300 dex to use the max damage upgrade path with warhammers (assuming you don't get boosts from enchants like reliable and elegant)
Edit: *ninja'd*

Really it just depends on your choice of weapons personally I never dual wield as I lack way to much def that way so I don't have a need for balance, so ask yourself if you would rather dual wield, 2h and shield or both and go from there.

You really really should try harder dungeons if you can kill everything with smash.
I have 270 base dex at level 1 and I find that I want more. Refine for giants is quite essential if you plan on using any weapon with low balance. Most of the best giant weapons (broad axe and warhammers) have very low balance. Unless you plan on enchanting "reliable" and don't mind 5x repair costs, you should get refine.

CM gives 15 Balance at rank 1, keep that in mind. I actually like high dex because I want 80% balance with Warhammers. Even with 200+ dex and r1 CM I still have like 67% Balance with Warhammers, and I capped both Refine and Weaving.

yeah there was the other thing, I share weapons between my current main and my soon to be main (giant)
that weapon being a Dustin Sword xD (currently)
but yeah chances are I'll get r1 refine on my giant too just for completion purposes if not for the dex
