Boston University Snowbrawl 2013 Attracts 2,000+ Students & the Boston Police

  With classes cancelled due to Nemo, Boston University students got in the wintertime spirit, hosting “Snowbrawl 2013” on the Esplanade Friday night. More than 2,000 students allegedly RSVP’d to attend, clad in colorful snow goggles and apparently not enough layers to avoid screaming, “Ow.”
  
  The Boston Police and Boston University Police Departments did show up to the scene. Multiple students were allegedly detained, and the photo below suggests one was tasered for throwing a snowball at a cop:

  Boston has already been hit with nearly 22 inches of snow. National Weather Service meteorologist Alan Dunham assures the snow is winding down and slowly moving away, yet NSTAR has reported about 241,000 power outages, while National Grid has reported about 161,000, according to the Boston Globe.
  
  The MBTA will not be able to restore service today, and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick’s travel ban is still in effect. All motorists must be off the roads, with the exception of public works workers, government officials conducting official business, utility workers, healthcare workers who must travel to provide essential and news media. Those that violate the ban could be dealing with a penalty of up to one-year in prison, along with a hefty fine.
  
  With expectations of up to three feet of snow from the blizzard, Patrick told people to prepare to be stuck at home for the next 24 to 48 hours.
  
  Unless, of course, those people decide to throw a snowball fight.

  Oh the police... always overreacting. Tasered someone over a snowball? Seriously?
  
  That looked fun. We have snow pretty much every year but we never have those kind of event for some reason. Maybe we're too used to it.

  I for one will withhold judgement. It might be a cop overreacting, or it might be for some other perfectly valid reason. Notice, the cop did not even react when someone threw a snowball at him in the video. I think there was more to the story than we know.
  
  As for the mass snowball fight, there are better days for this (referring to weather conditions), but it looked fun. I have been in some large snowball fights over the years, but nothing this big.

  Well, we're not supposed to be outside right now. I would love to be out throwing snowballs too but they should've waited until tomorrow/later today when people are allowed to drive on the roads. It's still pretty dangerous outside; people are being evacuated on the coast and the wind was gusting up to 80mph. Being out in Boston on a night like Friday was a terrible idea.
  
  ...but still, looked fun.

  There's actually a second snowbrawl starting up in an hour I think, but last nights rounds went from around 10 PM until the early hours of the morning.
