Really? Apple only has one good exclusive series I can think of (Infinity Blade) and as good as it is, alone is it's not going to be able to compete with Nintendo.

Nintendo hasn't been putting out that many good games lately. Just classic series like Mario, Zelda and pokemon. Do I think Apple can challange Nintendo? No, Apple's current app business practice is horrible for 3rd party developers, Nintendo may not be the greatest thing since slice of bread, but still better than Apple in that regard.
It's not to say Apple can't change for the better but as things stand, threat is very far fetched, let alone Nintendo is done for.

Okay in the broadest sense of the argument, "Apple will not beat Nintendo", I have to agree. But honestly...

As it currently stands this is not true. Nintendo devastates third party developers a new opening wide enough to shove a wii-mote in to. And that's only to prep for the wii-mote XL they're secretly planning on releasing. Apple will make you frown and cringe, but you never have to worry about getting aids.
Anyways, this will be most popular with children who are really in to simple app games, alongside casual adults. Which barges directly in to Nintendo's market and becomes a direct competitor. If you think about apps costing very little, it would also pay itself off in comparison to the Wii U.
It most likely won't dominate, but it'll definitely make Nintendo feel like some fat guy came and sat down on the empty bus seat next to him.

I'm going to have to agree with the cat. Plus I'm a HUGE sucker for Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon. Those 3 alone is enough to make me worship Nintendo for eternity. As long as they keep cranking out those titles, they can do no wrong in my book.

Nintendo is god.
Other companies can only hope to be touched by their light.

Fixed, to use Apple's "trademarked" word that they will bring you to court over using.
Seriously though, Apple's practices make me sick with how many patent, trademark, and other nonsense lawsuits they do.
I rarely see Nintendo do that shit.

consoles in general will be finished soon.
They're nothing more than technically limited, very custom built PCs. I'm pretty sure the upcoming generation of consoles (PS4 and whatever M$ shits out) will be the last generation of standard consoles. Pretty much everyone can produce a hardware system to run games now, there's no more business in that. Building both the platform and the content is an old concept, especially with the age of the internet. Having hardware-agnostic content will likely be the gaming industry at some point in the next 5 - 10 years, especially as the technology for streaming games improves.
Handhelds will probably stick around longer but more than likely will be replaced by smartphones, or whatever smartphones evolve into.
