What's with this forum?

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. The content is provided as-is, from the moment of the last backup taken of the database in 2019. Image and video embeds are disabled on purpose and represented textually since most of those links are dead.

I came seeking help with technical issues, and people refused to help and didn't even read the opening post but started making suggestions anyway. And now I see people getting warnings/bans just for talking negatively about other people, or posting evidence of them breaking rules.

I really thought this forum was better than the Nexon forums.

So. . .what you're saying is that it's a problem that people tried to help by making suggestions? I mean, one person asked about your computers specs to compare to his folder, the other one may have had problems that they solved by un-installing and re-installing. The warnings and bans are something that built up over a long period of time because of a certain "issue" that was never resolved. No forum is going to be perfect.

And just so you're clear, there's going to be issues everywhere no matter where you go whether it's a community in real life or the internet. Don't act as if nexon forums is the worst you'll ever see because there's drama everywhere no matter how much you complain.

Cynic and Mentos, there are better ways to discuss this with someone, there's no need to come off that way. Though, Doomed, they did try to help. I'm pretty sure they read your opening post and then posted suggestions, maybe not one you expected, but at the very least they tried. And I'll state what I said again, no forum is perfect. Lots of different people inhabit forums and there's bound to be disagreements on things, and if not taken care of due to various reasons, it can escalate over time.

Hey, im sorry you are disappointed with whats going on around here but I hope you can get past a few things. Based on what I can see in your post history you did get responses in most of your threads, not all of them were helpful, but it appears that at least 1 person, and usually the first person, tried to help you out. In one thread where you asked What games you could play it looks like The Cat answered you as well. These may not be the answers to what you specifically wanted, but from what I can tell they answer your questions, if you dont think they did feel free to clarify your questions and be as specific as you want.

As to the more social going-ons here, I cant really say much, Im not here enough to fully understand it, and from my viewpoint I agree, it all looks pretty ridiculous, however, it appears you want mabinogi help, technical discussion, and the rest, so if the drama bothers you that much I would recommend just staying out of bean rua. The Entertainment section is usually pretty good, and as far as I know most of the others are, if I am wrong I apologize, as I said im not the most up to date. However I hope you can at least give the site a bit more of a chance and see if you can find a different viewpoint.

Post after that I'll have to agree wasn't very helpful, but what's so bad about a small joke here and there eh? Post after that was a suggestion to reinstall. As for your complaint about people getting warning/bans for trashtalkings. So you would rather have someone trash talk you? and you'll be fine with it? The reason that they're getting warning/bans is BECAUSE staffs here WANT this forum to be BETTER than the nexon forum.

As much as I want to compare the files I have in my mabinogi folder with your screenshot, not everything is presented there and I don't think many people would put that much effort into troubleshooting.

Any error messages and comparing files in your folder could actually be helpful in someway. Then someone said, reinstall your mabinogi, which when ever you deleted something or stuffed it up, that is the most efficient way of fixing it. which you did reinstall it and got everything to work. So therefore, someone actually did help you in some way. We ain't technicians.
You should appreciate someone actually wanted to help, like boonhobo instead of wining no one wanted to help.

The behavior and legitimacy of the mod staff have gone to shit ( exception to Kaeporo, Invertex, Endlessdreams and a few others that actively engage and help out, the rest I'm afraid are a bit amateurish if I had to put a label on it).

Also, I'm amused that a new member is already trying to insult the staff. Way to be insulting instead of constructive =)

Edit: Of course people are going to get in trouble for talking negatively about other members, I can't believe you tried bringing that up as a serious issue you have. It's written in the forum rules, and you're silly if you think we're going to watch members just talk negatively about each other.
