Buying another External HDD (2tb vs 3tb)

So I have a $200 rewards card I need to use before it starts the monthly deduction, so decided to get another External for storage purpose.

So the question is, if the size of the HDD "still) affect the life of these HDD. I remember discussions of people suggesting smaller size for the storage safety.

The newest 3TB seem fine these days. The only thing to consider is backup, the more data you have on a single drive, the more you lose if that single drive dies on you. Make sure to always have a copy somewhere else of what you keep on that drive, unless you don't care about it.
