My mom got an iPhone and I got some dumb questions because I`ve been with android since the start.

1. Can I plug it into my computer and use it like a usb drive?
2. Can I put video on it without converting it to mp4?
3. Is there a free itunes alternative that's not bloated with adware?
4. Does jailbreak do anything else other than getting free apps and adding ringtones?

1. Nope, the only thing you can add is pictures (via copy and pasting on explorer that is)
2. Not sure, but I highly doubt it. I tried once putting a non-MP4 video on my iDevice and it didn't work.
3.Well iTunes itself is free, But check out the rest here.
4. Jailbreaking allows your iDevice to do lots of things. I don't keep up with the jailbreaking community anymore, but you can set your screen to display 5 rows of apps, display battery life, ect. Lots of neat things.

3. No without jailbreaking since Apple forces you to use iTunes.

This is why I try to talk people into getting people to getting anything other in the smartphone world other than an iPhone.

i can live without micro SD if the phone has enough onboard storage space. But for the rest, yeah pretty much.
