It's out, $15.99 for iOS. Android version is coming out later.
This popped up suddenly for Japan and the U.S... They made the announcement just a month ago, and the U.S. release came 2 days after the Japanese version was released. I have it already, there's 8-directional movement. I was never a fan of their new sprite-y graphics(Final Fantasy Dimensions), but it looks more polished and each job has several unique animations to them than the regular set that they had before. Oh, there's also Auto Battle Mode if you're grinding for jobs. It speeds up battles as well, so that's a bit of annoying off your back if you're trying to nab Dualcasting on a Red Mage.
Oh. The abusive "Exit-App-Resume-Quicksave" thing is still there, so if you're in a bind, you can always exit out and re-launch the app to start before the battle even happened. Course, that's just silly.

If they were going do something FFV related they should of remade it for the 3DS instead of porting the GBA version to iOS with different visuals. :V

This... looks terrible.
I heard the Squeenix CEO resigned this month in shame after years of continuous profit plummeting, and I feel like stuff like this is why.

They also expect too damn much from their games.
According to an article on Destructoid Sleeping Dog, Hitman: Absolution, and Tomb Raider sold a little over 7 million (physical) copies combined and Square Enix still lost money.
I think it's horrible that big companies expect more sales after the 1 million mark. :V
Also I have no idea why Wada became the CEO of Square Enix when it was obvious that Square was the one who was in a complete mess after the amount of money they poured into and lost from The Spirit Within.

They expect too much in general. I saw it coming after playing final fantasy 10 for the first time years ago.

Kind of want! Might get it.
And 1 million in sales is not that much when you consider the size of the market. I'd say the bigger problem is that a lot of people played those games without paying for them. :|

The new graphics does take some time to get used to, but it feels normal after you play it for a bit. It's not as bad; it's a perfect remake of FFV, so none of S.Enix's weird marketing tactics here. No IAPs, no nothing. Just a game. If they keep heading in this direction, then they'll surprise some old fans with FFVI.
Also: I think a lot of people have an iOS product more than a 3DS. Heck, I have an iPhone, an iPad, and an iTouch and I don't have a 3DS. Makes me wonder if I'm a PC user or not...

Get it because it's actually the best Final Fantasy game.
Price is a wee bit steep considering I got my GBA copy for less, plus i'm not a huge fan of mobile (read, not handheld) gaming.

Kind of want too but I'll wait to see if they put stupid drm on FF4.
No way i'll pay if they use the same drm as ff3.

There was drm for FF4 and FF3? What?

...why does DRM matter on a singleplayer mobile game.
you can play other ports or still get that shit with a jailbroken phone.
