I feel stupid for spending over $100 on dfo. Even more so for mabi.

The death of a MMORPG is always sad for me. You know how the players must feel since your game could very well be the next one to be axed...
At least it seems like if Mabinogi were to shut down, we'd know in advance thanks to a lack of updates.

I just got back into DFO. It was nice seeing my Crusader wipe the floor with everything again.
Bummer.

So they're a day late. I still think it's April Fools, but I don't really care.

I don't know, last I checked on DFO's market channel it looked just like Maple Story's Channel 1 Free Market. Because of that I thought DFO had more players than Mabi (also my friends around me ridiculed Mabinogi while they played DFO. Who has the last laugh now?) Basically a game can survive if enough players are still playing because the company can still leech off ad money.
I guess my perception of players is completely off.

Hmm...
Hopefully another company buys it so people can continue playing it. I've played it a few times and it seems like a nice game. It would be a shame to see it disappear completely from NA.

I was hoping this is a sick late April fools joke.
I am a sadden the game is closing down.
I have played a lot as a female gunner with avatars I bought with my hard earned cash.
As a thank you for your support and devotion, we will be offering a compensation package. Nexon will compensate the purchase(s) of Permanent and Durational items purchased within the 6 months directly preceding today.
So since I bought my avatars more than 6 months ago. Looks I am SOL.
In my opinion the game failed for several reasons:
Gachapon avatar shop: It frustrated players that they couldn't choose their own avatars. When Nexon implemented the ability to choose your own avatars it was too late and too expensive.
Lack of promotion: Nexon pushed the game when DFO was released and then nothing. Nexon should have gone the e-sports root like Riot Games to promote DFO.
Uninteresting Events: The events consist of grinding x amount of dungeons to get prizes.
Lack of frequent updates: Nexon was slow in updating the content of the game. Our Asian counterpart was a at least 6 months to 1 year ahead of us.
Bots and Hacks: Players were exploiting the flaws in the game.

Saw you post this on DFOSource lol.
I never really played the game much, but I was kinda thinking of getting into it, but now...that's not happening :l.
I remember the gachapon avatars, kinda bad, but looking at the NX prices of the shop items, it's nuts really :l.
I also feel like I have never seen an ad on the web for DFO.
Sad to see a game like this go. :(

Add unbearable lag to that list.
I had less lag playing and connecting with players in KDnF than I did in DFO, straight here from America.
People like to exaggerate on how "unplayable" the lag is, but in this case, it actually was unplayable; about 1 out of 3 people you tried to connect to would pause the game for about a minute before telling you that you could not connect and auto kicked. For a fast paced fighting PvP game, even 200 milliseconds of ping was enough to break it.
Nexon didn't appreciate DFO. They didn't take care of it.
And they let every user who logged on have their password leaked to an outside source for a few months during '11, but they kept quiet about it. Thousands of players quit after having their accounts wiped clean. I don't really want to look through to dig it up, but it wasn't until someone on Nexon forums publicly showed how to intercept login information that this problem was actually fixed. By then, the damage had been done.

Just got an email from them, saying that they're giving players special service for starting on one of their other games. No clue on the conditions, but I'll guess that it's only for people new to those games.
Funny thing about it, they didn't have any special thing for people to start on Mabi...

Well, I had said it was an email, and it's not listed in there. They only listed "Atlantica Online, Combat Arms, Dragon Nest, MapleStory, or Sudden Attack" as their other games to migrate to.

Q: Are you planning on terminating service of any other NxA games?
A: We have not announced any other game closures in North America.
This doesn't even say anything. I guess therefore that it means yes.

They sent two more followup emails today, probably due to questions being brought up. Both were near identical to the one I previously got, but the first one tagged on Mabinogi, and the second one tagged on Vindictus(Mabi wasn't on that one).
