First female Prime Minister of the U.K.

She was pretty badass, whatever else you think about her.

That's the bitch that ordered to torpedo the General Belgrano.
She's immensely hated here for that reason, the news here is filled with this and other Falkland War stuff now.

You don't mount invasions against British territory, mess with their navy and expect to get away with it. :P Sorry to hear you guys in Argentina hate her.
I think she's pretty badass indeed.

You probably have no idea what you are talking about man :\ You say it like it's nothing, I know people that have lost parents, grandparents, friends over that bullshit.
It's quite a lot more complicated than that, you know, dictatorship, sovereignty issues, shooting a torpedo when the war was pretty much over.

I been down this road before, just stop trying, there is no way to convince people of the circumstances and justify it on the internet with people who haven't experienced it even though it could be cultural norm in your region. Let it go, let people think whatever, if they judge you for it, they just don' know better.

Dictatorship referring to the Argentinien regime?
What sovereignty issues? Not honestly over the Falkland Isles? There is no sovereignty issue here that is not spun out of thin air.
But yes, shooting torpedos at consistenly unengaging formally hostile forces is not what I would call sensible.

Uh, remembered everyone in the U.K. hated Margaret Thatcher
U.K. lost its manufacturing and workers just so Britain can become a finance-based economy
Basically, the Ronald Reagan of Britain
oh and Judy Garland's Ding Dong the Witch is Dead picked up in sales after her death

my opinion of thatcher
Margaret Thatcher should be judged on one thing - the massive, massive amount of real human suffering Thatcher and her policies caused. Thatcher expropriated the industrial wealth of the British middle class and transferred it directly to the wealthy, while slashing social services (and yes, cutting the rate of growth in spending translates into less services on the ground, before some right wing nitwit tries to demonstrate their nonunderstanding of economics by telling me "oh this and this agency had its spending increase under her).
If only the Argies weren't stupid enough to try to invade territory that had never belonged to them and was almost certainly going to be theirs for free anyway (sorry I hate Maggie's guts but she was right and Argentina was wrong on the FALKLANDS, though she used that to distract the British people from the wholesale looting of their society she presided over).

I know what you mean, and I'm sorry to hear that, but I'd also like to assure you that I am not clueless. People die in wars. Wars suck. Yes, it's more complicated than that, but those details don't matter depending on what it is you're looking at. At the end of the day, the Argentinian government did a major disservice to their people by stupidly picking a fight with what's essentially a naval superpower.
