I have no issue with cynical people or being near them. [SIZE="1"](I admit to being a horrible cynical bastard my last two years of high school)[/SIZE]
You just have to understand that the events in their lives have influenced them into seeing the world from a different perspective than that of an optimist. Of course there are some people who take their cynicism to the extreme, but then that starts to delve more into the realm of a possible disorder and less of a "choice"...so...
Anyway.
Too much optimism leads to too much confidence and then you end up like Icarus. Too much cynicism leads to a rotten personality and then you're yelling at kids to get off your lawn when they're on the sidewalk.
You just need to maintain a balance between cynicism and optimism, both in yourself and in those you associate with.
