As someone who used a tremendous amount of effort trying to get the Pikachu 3DS XL, I highly suggest jumping on any pre-orders or such that you may find if you really want this.

You can transfer everything from one system through another using the System Transfer tool Nintendo put out.
The issue is you may have to redownload some of them because it failed to transfer.
I did it recently from 3DS to the XL and I had to redownload some of the games. :<
