Well here are some personal things I didn't like.
The UI is remarkably similar to WoW's layout (even with a 3D portrait of your character on the top left and a 3D portrait of your target in top center).
Every class has a similar mechanic where you attack several times with specific skills that are capable of filling a meter and it allows the use of some skills once it reaches a certain limit. Basically you'll be spamming one or two skills over and over again till you can use the stronger skill.
It's all fetch quests or grind quests.
Takes a while to get anywhere even with a mount and during the time where you don't have one, it'll really take a long time to go from one place to the other.
There's a bug where if you use potions whle you're executing a skill animation, it may not work but still consume your potion. A workaround is to jump before you use the potion...
Speaking of jump, it's pretty much there just for cosmetic use. Located as space bar, same as WoW.
Very simplistic skill progression and small skill tree. I was already planning my endgame build by lv 20. Not to mention that you can save all the skill points from job one and use those on job two (I actually didn't mind that though).

Ragnarok Battle Offline! It's a shame French Bread stopped working on that it could have been big with all the update the real RO got.
I'm looking for RBO but seems like it's pretty hard to get a hold of that download link ;__;
this is what i found.. but idk if it's still working or not:

I was part of the korean closed beta of RO2 and I was highly unimpressed. It was a fun korean grinder if you enjoy korean grinder but that was it. A souless husk of it's former glory (RO).
how do you guys even get invited on these testings >3<

Personally I thought the first RO2 had more potential than the second one. It also had superior music. That intro theme was just beautiful.

ohwait I heard they changed the intro they had before to the one I just linked. Ohwell +1 on that I guess. Mind you the intro they originally had was pretty good too but this one just strike me more.
they said the first RO2 was scrapped because the players / fans didn't like it?

actually I haven't played WoW and I think I was living under a rock..
but I can agree to some of the bugs.. especially the 'arrow keys'.. even on character creation..

that's what i heard too. well, what happened is somehow mixed. i've been hearing other players saying that the first RO2 was better than the second and there were also others saying the reverse. we can just hope that RO2 will get better soon.
i've been playing flyff again this weekend. i just can't get the nostalgia i thought i was gonna get from playing it. i guess i'll try mabinogi next and get a personal feel of the game.

Just found out now, the original creator of RO1 (Mr Hakkyu Kim) has been quietly creating the supposed or actual successor to RO 1 called
Project R1.

[Image: http://www.mmoculture.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Project-R1-poster.jpg]
as it still currently stands its in secretive development
which is too bad because there's been no news of it since 2011

Ooooh what a punny name for R1.
I like it.

I played it when it became available for beta on SEA, and it was disappointing, except for the character graphics, music(from scrapped RO2), and familiar monsters.
I liked the scrapped version of RO2 better, honestly.
I love that they used anime style graphics that didn't skim on shading details, and was NOT chibi style, but the gameplay was just boring as any other typical point-and-wait grinding MMO, with equally boring quests.
I liked the quests in RO1 because they were cleverly scripted, unlocked features, or required detective work like finding clues and switches. Not to mention they were all optional, and were not required to level effectively.
That's one thing that bothers me about new MMOs, they focus so much on requiring quests to level, that you just can't level without them, and it's a boring forced questing game where you're just spamming left click to make the text go away faster.
Mabinogi's mainstream quests are the best story quests I've played in any MMO, with some of RO1's quests coming in second for me.
Those two games are where I will do quests because I actually want to, and actually have fun doing their quests, even if there's some really frustrating parts. The story is well done, and you feel the need to know more. It's not just "Go fetch this for me and never speak to me again. Kthxbye.".
There's really no similarity to Mabinogi, except the fact that it's considered anime style, and originates in Korea. Even so, the art styles are quite different, because Mabinogi is more cel-shaded.

For the first point: I was invited because I was a VIP player of RO1. WarpPortal managed to get accounts from Gravity's korean branch for their RO1 player.
Second point: I think it has to do with what korean player want VS what we want. Personally for having tried a private server of the scrapped RO2 I thought it was better but still not a good game. It did have some cool mechanic like leveling your weapon and naming it but yeah.

wow. cool! the only invitation i got while i was still a hardcore RO1 player was to play sakray (which essentially is the official test server).
yeah. i was looking for the weapon that was supposed to be leveling up. sad that it didn't make it to the second coming. it would be cool if you can name your weapon.

After watching the
First Hand Gameplay video, the game looks like another generic Asian grinder.
If the game didn't have the Ragnarok brand name, this game would be overlooked.
I can see the original Ragnarok lasting longer than this sequel.
This is so disappointing considering this game has been in development for such a long time.

They had Lime Odyssey in a closed beta for English for a short time, but then for some reason just... abandoned it completely, and never gave any news since then. The site hasn't been updated at all, so I assume they just ditched it. Whether they've ditched it, or are still developing it, I find it's highly unprofessional to never update the site or give any news. At least say "We're no longer able to continue.", or keep posting "We're still working on it" every month/season or so.
It's sad because I really liked the graphics. >_< Then again I didn't play enough to know what it was about really... besides limes. It didn't really feel RO-like, though. It was cute nonetheless(particularly the Muris race). They also had part of the Renai Circulation dance as a gesture.
I remember hearing about R1 long ago, but never see any news on it either. :(
Also have been wanting to try ELS, Soul Worker, and Tiara Concerto, but never hear news on that either. Seems all the anime games with nice graphics are Vaporware. ><

Just curious if the original creators were behind this or was it a new group? If anything I wished the sequel didn't revamp everything. Just updating content and graphics. Only thing that ever bothered me in Ragnarok was how moving were in squares. It caused a lot of glitchiness when moving/combat. Also the publisher now has rather laggy server :X.
