I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere. I've not finished watching it myself, but I felt the need to post it.
the human population would be significantly lower than it is today.
If straight was the gay of the world, the human population would be significantly lower than it is today. Hell, we'd probably all be extinct. How could you possibly ostracize the people you depend on for your race's survival?
I think the point of the video was just to be more accepting Dx
EDIT: Not just of gays/straights but of everyone in general ;_;
That doesn't sound like a bad thing.
Also, in this video's world, there seems to be a "breeding season", which is when people are allowed to have sex with the opposite sex or something.
Except that our current population is actually getting too large, not too small, so having more LGBT folks would actually be a good thing in that sense. Not to mention that you could easily get a sperm donor and/or surrogate if you wanted to have a biological child, although that only works for one of the two people in the relationship.
Though, they are currently working on various different techniques to produce biological children from both same-sex parents. And let's not forget that some people-- regardless of sex and sexual orientation-- have no interest in having kids. Or they simply cannot have any.
So population isn't an issue no matter what way you look at it.
Yeah, so now that i watched the whole thing, they at least do some world-building. Apparently this is also a matriarchal society, since the pope is a woman.
But imagine if, from the beginning of human history, there were significantly more gay people than straight. That's what it would take to create the world seen in this film.
Flipped-oppression narratives that turn actually marginalised people into villains for a moral point people apparently couldn't understand unless they were thinking about how it would effect them are gross and terrible.
