they can be poisoned, so if you have a poisonous snake like i do, send it to poison twice while staying a very very very far distance
then finish it off with a smash or something

Yeah, my brother poisoned it. This worked in Hard Mode.

Since it has low CP, poison can be inflicted pretty easily.
In the situation where you don't have poison (or Ice Spear, Ranged, etc), go with abc's suggestion of using a pet. Turn on Mana Shield if you failed to avoid its Life Drain attention, and watch your HP potting.

you could also easily get someone to give/sell a poison potion to you to use on the weapons, it's an alternative to a snake seeing as it's going to attack you anyways once the snake dies
trans is very helpful in surving hardmode anyways xD

Couldn't you just dagger FH?
... possibly with trans?

It has advanced heavy stander.
I believe it'd just float up and life drain you if you tried.

Dagger FH beats most heavy stander mobs since they're fast speed, and nobody mentioned that FH causes life drain.
So I assumed nobody even tried.

Mirage could work then owo.
Wheeee.
Does life drain go through barrier spikes?
-

Barrier Spikes works wonders. They can't attack you through them, and it ends up getting stuck. Just range through the spikes, and have a backup spikes to run to just in case they get too close for comfort.
Worked wonders for me, but lure it away from other monsters.

DevCat created blinkers as a sort of FU to windmill spammers. If you lack magic, ranged and alchemy you'll unfortunately be forced to rely on pet tactics.

Based on the info on the wiki, it looks like Smash and run 3-4 times would do the job on Hard difficulty.
It's only 3,760 HP... does it have like uber defense or something, or is the LD range just hax?
