  Also opens up some combos that were impossible to do before because of the need to wait for the game to let you switch weps.

  I think people are overlooking the fact that any given hybrid weapon previously established has been horribly ineffective and useless for both skillsets it uses. If anything has a chance, it's instument/control bar though since they both require no reforges or upgrades to be effective.

  I never said that, but most do require reforges to be most effective by a wide margin. Beyond that, poor base stats, and poor upgrades, there is also poor utility. This is at least shown with the two hybrid weapons I have sufficient knowledge about; the mysterious phoenix feather sword and Merlin's knuckles. In the case of the sword it's slower and would literally be faster to switch to another weapon, even from inventory. The knuckles suffer similar problems, as hailstorm and blaze serve no utility whilst other skills require charging where you'd be better off switching.
  
  I have higher hopes for other hybrid weapons though, as I've stated.

That's like saying a wand or a trinity staff is a hybrid weapon because you can smash with it. I guess you're seriously going to compare scythes and any other two-handed weapon next, right?
  
  So really, there have been no actual hybridized weapons that have hit our servers yet, and you're really basing your assumptions off of two prototypes that only KR currently has.

  Fairly sure it's both, it gains the effects of sword mastery, I believe.

  The regular Phoenix sword, yes. The Mysterious one is pretty much a Fire Wand fashioned to look like a sword, and I've never heard about Sword Mastery affecting it. The point is, it was an aesthetic weapon, not a serious attempt at hybridizing two playstyles that beforehand could not be melded together seamlessly. You can even feel the shift in design philosophy between the sword and these upcoming knuckles/puppets, because they are actual attempts at hybridizing not just weapons, but entire playstyles.
