Tarlach Fair - June 22nd, 2013

  Hello there again, Friends. Its been a while, hasn't it?
  
  The 7th Tarlach Fair will be occurring on June 22nd, with several guilds puling together to make it happen. I have allowed the leaders of Lostones to take up the event this year and I've been in the background offering advice and watching over their efforts.
  
  I'd like to thank the members of Lostones, Code, Capulet, Rayout, Club, and all the guildless randoms that are helping out this year to try their best to make the event a success.

  This Summer's event focuses will be our usual PVP contests, the ever popular Obstacle Course, the Fashion Contest, a recently added Homestead contest and my personal favorite, the Bard Off.
  
  Most of the website currently has up to date information. I (Spooklee) am still doing some tweaks to the code here and there and re-writing the History page (its a mess), and once we get our Artists on track, you may see small banners and sigs pop up leading up to the event.

  Some answers;
  
  Apparently no one noticed until now that the names of people who had to be sent notes for registry weren't added to their respective pages on the website. We're getting that fixed int he next day or two, I'm sorry about this. (The registrations were being posted to facebook but didnt get posted into the site,I have the staff working on it now, should be fixed by the end of the day.) Thanks to all the people who pointed it out.
  
  The Tarlach Fair Shop is currently being run by Evaline of Lost Ones, I've allowed her and her husband to run the Fair this year rather than being directly involved. The Overpricing is not standard to the fair's shop, it was a decision made by the current fair's organizers. The shop is there primarily as a way for people who want to donate to buy directly from staff and make sure the money gets to us rather than risking someone claiming to work for the fair and running off with millions (this happened on Mari when they tried doing a fair of their own). Usually when Im running the shop, I under price things, but I'm allowing Lostones to try some different methods this year to see how well they do with their ideas. The Shop is having mixed results at the moment.
  
  Lastly, The Tarlach Fair is a collection of Minigames created by the players, for the players, with completely donated money and prizes. Nexon has no involvement beyond occasionally mentioning our event on their Facebook page. (However I discussed things with the staff a long time ago and found out if I arranged fairs on every server for a year they'd look at getting it officially supported. They cant show server favoritism and give us NX if its only for Tarlach.)
  
  I started these events in 2009, but have stepped down from lead staff for a few years to do some stuff IRL. I came back recently because Lostones were looking for me to ask if they could do the event and ask for advice. Depending on the results of the fair, I may come back to the game full time and continue running the event. Or not, will depend on weather or not people like the event, I know theres a lot of new players now who have never seen or participated in one.

  I've mentioned it in guild chat a couple times since I'm part of the PVP staff. It's basically a player run event started by Spook here that's been occurring on our server for a few years. It's kind of become a staple of the Tarlach community now, at least among most of the older players anyhow.
  
  The shops are usually to try and make money for prizes and other uses.

  Well I cant blame the suspicion of random links with the amount of Phishing that's been done to Mabi with linking to third party sites. I keep very tight control of the Wiki though, and the site is monitored by the provider for risky business, so if anything bad comes out of the website I will completely shut it down and talk to the company to get any problems fixed rather than risk the sanctity of my visitors computers. Wikidot is also not a commonly used provider for gaming websites, it just happens to have a very dumbed down editor (which I specifically chose for people who know nothing about HTML, Java, Flash, etc etc etc) since I keep adding one or two people every year to keep the updates going. The passwords to even get into the wiki are changed weekly.
  
  Regarding other info; Actually the artists are NOT from Lost Ones and currently do not want to be named. My current artist doesnt want fame at all and is just doing work as a favor. I wouldnt be apposed to artists from all over the server submitting art and ideas to the site though. Personally I would REALLY Prefer to ONLY use screenshots and art specifically from Tarlachian players, so we can really personalize our event. If I had the time I'd be doing the same for the other servers.
  
  (Realistically its actually shortage of IRL money and needing to pay the rent and food bills that keeps me from doing it on all 4 servers, time is less of an issue when I have those basic needs covered...)
