Does anyone know how after-protection damage is calculated after the balance patch?
I've heard that its depreciating returns, but how much weaker is it exactly?
Also, does it still provide wound reduction? I've actually never known how this was calculated either
Would really appreciate any insight on this, thanks guys =)

It's same like the other formulas.
You gain a big bonus for lower prot, but the more prot you gain the diminish the returns.

I've heard it expressed a few ways, but what it boils down to is damage / (1 + 0.2x). x being the protection value. So have 1 protection is like dividing damage by 1.02, and 100 protection is like dividing damage by 3.
Protection - Damage Protected
10 - 16.67%
20 - 28.57%
30 - 37.50%
40 - 44.44%
50 - 50%
60 - 54.55%
70 - 58.33%
80 - 61.54%
90 - 64.29%
100 - 66.67%
150 - 75%
200 - 80%
Edit: For comparison, there is damage dealt vs. protection graph. On the vertical it shows how much damage would be dealt in %, and on the horizontal it shows value in protection. Orange is old/current, and the black is the new formula.

So getting prot past 50 is a waist of effor for the reward?

Most damage oriented players will still only have anywhere from 10 to 30 prot, so it's a buff in damage reduction from protection.

It's less than it is now, each point gets diminishing return. Whether the next point is worth it or not is almost purely subjective. Most players should notice a bit of improved tank-ability against same damage attacks, but also less damage on common mobs. This should make mobs with 100 protection or more such as FA boss a lot easier to deal with it, though I don't know if Nexon's made it so you have to reduce its protection anyways.

In other words DevCat is saying:
Quote from DevCat:
Lolololo, f**k you Giants! Your Wind Guard skill is totally pointless now. lolololo
Go cry in a corner about Giant flaws [S]like BIassreiter[/S], you rejects! Elves for the win! Lolololo
P.S. Upcoming patch, Atlatls get removed because f**k Giants! Loololololo
That's how I'm feeling right now. [S]I'll take any criticism.[/S]

Personally I think this update is heavily biased in that it benefit giants far more than humans, and even more so than elves who gain virtually nothing.
Edit: To clarify, this relates to defensive capabilities; heavy armor mastery and shield mastery in particular.

If you manage to avoid being hit and kill everything around you, then I suppose defense isn't reaaaally necessary l0l.
...though we all know how hard that is.

Windguard was buffed, it gives like 100 prot, 100 def and lasts 50 seconds.
And this update benefits giants FAR more than any other race, with the exception of the changes in balance for obvious reasons.

I heard that Avon shield on giants is switch to large shield in the nexon forum when Vejiosa (probably spelled that wrong),showed a end game giant vid soloing wiz hard on nexon forum. Is that true? Other than that R1 heavy armor and shield mastery gives a nice bonus def and prot. Question, does magic prot works the same way?
