I know lots of people here have tumblr. Apparently nothing should get "ruined" with this deal, but you never know.

Yeah but Tumblr is pretty fucking popular, and Yahoo knows that they can use this to their advantage, and I highly doubt this is something they'd be willing to fuck up.
I see people all over Tumblr whining and crying about it, but it's really not that big of a deal. People like to jump to conclusions because of Yahoo's past. I'm telling you, Tumblr is going to be like Yahoo's favorite little girl who gets showered with an abundance of praise.

Like Hanna mentioned, my only concern is the actual fate of the website considering they shut down my favorite to-do app.

They're saying tumblr will be run as an independent entity, whatever that means. Sounds better than "we'll rape it by integrating with our other garbage" though. Although this is what's always said when one company aquires another company that a lot of people like.
People should really look into hosting their own stuff, with their own domain. I don't say that just because of this news but in general, it's just nice to have full control over your own shit. You can even have your tumblr be at something.yourdomain.com (ex: go to tumblr.osayidan.net ) and set up the layout to point to your real site.

Well guess what.
NSFW blogs have basically been isolated (nice way of avoiding a censorship debate) from tumblr.
They can no longer be searched. You can only "find" NSFW blogs via external links. I don't use tumblr for anything so I don't care, but it must fucking suck right now to be someone running a blog with NSFW stuff on it and depending on that blog for some source of income.

Looking at the comments there's also
this... Kind of hoping Yahoo fucks off before they go thinking they can screw around with the rest of the world (Much like another company we all know and love).

Well shit. That sucks :(. Let's just say that this is relevant to my job.
Looks like if you go to settings you can still view nsfw blogs by unchecking the stupid Safe mode checkbox. Asshole Yahoo. I hope they die in a fucking fire.
Oh good, unchecking that checkbox does allow me to see porn when searching through tags. That's a little annoying but is something that can be fixed if people know about it.

I guess they've just added that feature after all the recent raging.
Other problem I heard of is if your blog was previously marked as NSFW (voluntarily by your own self in the blog options) you now can no longer revert it to normal.
Yahoo are completely fucking this up as is normal for any service they get their hands into. Guess it's just a matter of time now for a new tumblr-like thing to pop up.

Nothing of value was lost, IMO. It was only natural that Yahoo would do this, being a responsible company. It's not like porn was the life blood of Tumblr, nor was it even eliminated.
Yahoo has been doing exceptionally well since Marissa took over. I hope they will continue on this path.

De-rep.
Yahoo alienated something like 10% of Tumblr's users with this. And that's just the percentage of NSFW blogs, not the percentage of people that view those blogs.
