[9:42:54 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: the korean told us a helpful tip
[9:43:01 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: we were wondering why we could sing ..
[9:43:03 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: she said
[9:43:06 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: to put o1, o2, or o3
[9:43:12 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: at the start of the "voice mml"
[9:43:12 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: ...
[9:43:24 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: though it isn't perfect since you have to manipulate the o1, o2, and o3 in the WHOLE file

[9:43:35 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: to make it sound good

[9:45:22 AM] radionoise: I'll give her that tip to prepare
[9:45:24 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: would use multiple o1, o2, and o3 in it
[9:45:26 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: mm
[9:45:27 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: like

[9:46:07 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: give her as a tip
[9:46:13 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: we DID not know how to make it sing
[9:46:13 AM] radionoise: though for me don't really understand mml stuff, so just copypasting
[9:46:16 AM] ã‚ã£ã“ Â: good thing we learned it haha

Okay, for those who wasn't able to understand.
When you make a melody for the song to sing, you use the fourth line in the scroll. However, just putting MML there won't do the trick. Why? Because the voice only has 3 octaves. When writing the MML, you have to do put o1, o2, and o3... what does it mean?
o1 = First octave
o2 = Second octave
o3 = Third octave
If you fail to specific an octave, you'll either get no sound or a messed up voice. So, what does that mean? You have to specify which octave to use, for example, take this MML line:
t76v15l8>b+bag4d4.a1b+bag4f#4gg4.gf#dc-d4e4
Just by itself, it can produce sound on an instrument, but if you don't assign an octave, it won't play at all. To remedy this, let's add the first octave to it or o1:
o1+76v15l8>b+bag4d4.a1b+bag4f#4gg4.gf#dc-d4e4
Notice how because I added o1, the song will now play in that octave.
Now while that will get the voice going in a song, it wouldn't sound pretty good. To be a true master of making voice MML, you have to learn how to manipulate octaves! In other words, learning where to put o1, o2, and o3 is the key to being a good voice MML writer.
Now, with that said here's an example video I made after experimenting with it:

Notice in that video that I played all three octaves separately to demonstrate how high and low it can get. Once I demonstrated each octave separately, there's a "slight" pause at the video at 0:53, after the pause, I use all three octaves to create a very nice melody. =)
As you can see, by learning to manipulate octaves, you can make some pretty cute voice MML. With that in mind, I hope it will give some insight on how to write voice MML for our MML writers in Mabinogi.
=)

Think of it more like vocals have a specific range where it can produce sounds.
If you don't specify which octave to start with, it will start at o4 by default. Most of the pitches in o4 cannot be heard when using it with vocals.
Candyrock posted a neat breakdown of the valid octaves for each instrument on another thread weeks ago.
Quote from Candyrock:
Audible range for the new instruments:
- Piano: o1c ~ o7c
- Violin: o1e ~ o4b
- Cello: o1c ~ o3a+
- Vocal (Male): o1f ~ o4c+
- Vocal (Female): o1c ~ o3a
- Choir (Male): o1d ~ o3a+
- Choir (Female): o1g ~ o4c
Yes, for some reason, the female vocals have a lower range than the male vocals. Both genders of the vocals come in 5 different variants; the tones are the same, but the syllables vary within some of the notes. Choir is the same, but with only 3 variants.

Thanks.
Now I just hope people will create more voice MMLs. I'm really interested in what can be produced.

For those of you with 3ml editors, if you use the current KR spirit.dls file you'll be able to find the new voice sounds and tamper with the right octaves.
Here's a score, see if it works.

It seems to me that with different music skills will utilize a different "type" of singing sound (for example lullaby and battlefield each have a different singing sound when used). Or it could just be randomized upon singing, but my point is that some of the voices when used for these codes make the song sound more or less appealing.

Bumping this again since people are going to question how to compose.
