This is truly heartfelt. People should open up more about themselves and not let some corrupt church control what you can and cannot be. There needs to be more emphasis on self-realization than just mindlessly following the words of some shit organization that says whatever they want in the name of God.

Touching story, its something of a tragic yet enlightening story. Just wanted to comment on something kinda irrelevant:

I don't think this woman understands what it means to renounce your faith. You're not angry at God, but rather he simply doesn't exist in your belief. I've spoken with a lot of people who actually can't comprehend this concept, which prevents them from being able to see things outside of their perspectives, for both sides. Its awful strange from my point of view when they believe atheists worship Satan or hate God.

But knowing this really helps you converse with these people and get along with them. I've seen a lot of people lash back without internalizing this.

I feel like there's a big problem about this for people who have known, really, NOTHING about anything outside of their religion, in this case Christianity. Sometimes it might be taught and interpreted that, accepting God means to love Him, and to "reject" Him is to hate Him.

If he actually believed in God, then it's a possibility that he was angry at God. Some people renounce their faith out of anger towards God - it's not uncommon in times of loss or hardship. It's different than atheism.

I feel no pity for that poor boy's family.

Hah.

The ironic thing is most atheists will ramble on about their belief in science â€’ knowing almost nothing or showing any interest in science themselves. People are still people, being as intolerant as ever no matter what affiliation they hold themselves toward.

With no strive for knowledge or curiosity, you might as well be fish.
