I remember the first day I played.
Game was in OB and I downloaded it one night while I was still a Freshman in college. My roommate was sleeping, I remember, so I had to be quiet. I had my headphones on.
I instantly loved Mabinogi. I hated the long opening scene though. I wanted to play ASAP. haha
Tir Chonaill was a beautiful town and the NPCs were beautifully drawn, I thought. Tarlach was the most interesting person, since he transformed into a bear during the day, but my favorite person just had to be the Healer there. (I forget her name.) Something about her eyes.
I played the whole night. I remember my roommate woke up and found me on my laptop and he was like, "Did you sleep?" I lied and told him I did.
I skipped some classes that day to play Mabinogi. Good, good times.

My suitemate back state-side introduced me to Combat Arms while I was waiting for my parents to ship my Xbox 360. I grew tired to Combat Arms and eventually browsed Nexon.net out of boredom. Mabinogi was the only game that looked interesting to me. I downloaded it and grew fond of the combat system. My only prior experience with MMO's was obtained through Runescape. Comparitively, Mabinogi had much better combat at the cost of having a poor dungeon system (randomly generated square rooms ftl) and an annoying equipment system.
My first character was an elf on the Alexina server. I initially thought that rebirth was only possible through the cash shop. This lead me to quit Mabinogi while I searched for other online games to play. I downloaded a couple of games over the course of a week and finally settled back into Mabinogi. My new character is a human on Alexina. Total: Around 600

I'd played Maplestory for over two years. Loved it. Got hacked. I then proceeded in trying the other Nexon games. The race-kart game, the dancing game, Combat Arms...then it came to Mabinogi.
I remember getting excited during the extraction and installation process and spazzing my mouse all over the screen. Doing so allowed me to discover that you could make the silhouette of the girl's skirt (who's name I later learned is Nao) float up a bit on either side of her. That lil bit caught my interest. Eventually, it came to actual gameplay.
I sucked at fighting. I had no Nx. But the storyline was awesome. I loved the artwork for the characters and the aging system that allowed those characters to actually grow. The battle system was so unique compared to other MMOs I'd tried before. The feeling of an actual world in an online game was what I felt instead of the usual massive-multiplayer-online-chatroom with some monsters you could kill and pretty words that said you leveled up that indicated that you had become closer to having no life (AKA: the grind), something I hadn't felt since I'd last done a fantastic dragon-slaying quest in Runescape some three years before.
It was all new and interesting to me--a big change from the simple 2-D side-scrolling Maplestory. I was hooked.

I was playing Rappelz and Flyff for over 2 years. On the forum FlyFF world, two people mentioned mabinogi. They brought me to Ruairi and helped me alot. They however slowly drifted away. I had a crush on the girl of those two, because those two were together. I still like her to this day, but shes in Georgia and im in southern Ontario. We might never meet.

I got into it expecting a Harvest Moon style game. Even though it wasn't what I expected, I dunno what kept me there. It was probably the more interactive combat. Maybe it was the laid back charm.
Quote from silentselene;125533:
Instead of getting Harvest Moon Online I got a game with very well thought out combat xD
I beg to differ about the combat being very "well thought out". The balance in dungeons is all over the place. Alby's spiders (save the boss) have a difficult time killing me. Sure, that's a beginner dungeon, but take the next step up, Ciar, and you'd expect the same, a step up in damage. Instead, we get a serious ramp up. Their Goblins can still murder me in one combo! And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Played maplestory for a bit, then my friend introduced me to mabinogi, but we both quit due to the lack of content (was right after open beta), so I went back maplestory. After a few years was looking for an interesting mmo to play, decided to try mabinogi again, and here I am :thumb:

I've been playing MapleStory for quite a long time, and I've seen the Mabinogi ads but never thought much of it. My friend comes over one time and starts playing, so I wanted to try. I really didn't think I'd ge into it, so I just made a name real quick by copying his name. I tried again a couple months later and I really liked it. So that's how I started playing and how I ended up with a "narutard" name. I like the anime and manga and all, but naming a character after them is just too much!
B>Name Change! Willing to pay NX!
