As you may have geussed by now im not entireley certain on my next pet. Im considering a coral cobra for a good archer support pet (all 3 bolts PLUS poison for my arrows), but im just checking to make sure there are'nt any other pets I should go for for magic purposes.
My current pets are:
Borzoi
Siamese
Shire(not used for combat though ive been told it may be a good idea)
Eagle(also not used in combat)
silver fox
polar bear
at the moment i have 5.2k nx and SHOULD have a bit more on the way.
TL:DR version :I need a mage pet. Snakes any good?

The poison is good for the shadow mission bosses.
It's not bad as a mage type pet.

The poison can be useful against certain monsters. The ability to poison your weapons is largely useless. The poison effect only lasts about 10-18 hits.
Borzoi (Awesome pet, are you a paladin? FYI pally dogs/dark cats get 20% of your trans bonus)
Siamese (Outclassed by the Bengal, imo)
Shire (Decent land mount)
Eagle (Decent air mount)
silver fox (Unless you rank it to like level 70 at a young age, they're generally outclassed by other pets)
polar bear (Usefulness depends on your dedication)
You lack a thoroughbred/black cotton :o

Desert/Coral Cobras are good. Their attacks have unlimited poison; their only restriction is CP-based. IE the higher the CP of the target compared to the snake, the less success rate it has to poison the target.
Poisoning your weapons doesn't yield any true advantage in combat, because the poison does wear off after a few hits, and each bottle takes up 30 MP of the cobra (which is a lot, at most you can only grab 2 bottles if you lvl up your cobra while it's young). That's why it's better to summon and send a cobra pet to attack the intended target, since it's unlimited hits and doesn't take up MP (which could be used for your Magic support for Ranged, or just plain Healing).
If you really want to poison your weapons, I suggest poisoning a weapon that has a +CP enchant like a Black Scar Longbow or Red Scar Longsword(s). Having a higher CP will increase your chance of poisoning a target. Also, rely on Smash/Magnum Shot so you can deal better dmg and not waste so many poisoned hits.
