I chose Xenonauts a few weeks ago instead. Wnated to go with X-COM Apocalypse first, but the graphics are just too bad, sorry.

Wouldn't have thought of you as a graphics whoarsie.
Also, X-Com apocalypse? Pretty sure Chockeh was talking about Enemy Unknown (2012).
Either way, Apocalypse is the weakest of all X-Coms anyways.

I grabbed Prototype (first one) since I like open world games, but I can't even start a new game, it just crashes when it starts to load the first scene. Not going to bother looking into that further though, for 6$ I don't have the time to waste trying to make it work.

Yeah, but I was thinking about Apocalypse versus EU 12 initially. Deep tactics versus pretty presentation. I decided for the compromise.
I'm not a "graphics whore", but this kind of low-bit low-resolution vintage pseudo-3D just really strains my eyes, and fuck THAT FUCKING DISGUSTING INTERFACE.
Jagged Alliance 2 is about acceptable, but I still get higher blood pressure thinking about its interface.

I wouldn't call myself a graphics whore in the sense that I won't play a game if the graphics aren't the latest and greatest technology can provide, but I am very critical about them. All I ask is that the game developer do the best they possibly can with the art style they decided to use for the game.
So for example if someone decides to make a 2D game and they have good 2D art, I'm not going to bitch about it. Likewise for a game like minecraft where everything is intentionally blocky and 8-bit looking, that's what was chosen and worked with and they did it well.
However if someone decides to make a game in full 3D and tries to make it look realistic, then I expect it to look as good as it can with the technology available at the time of development. Now we're 2013, if a game releases today and on max settings it looks like I can run it on a computer I'd build in 2010 or something I'm not going to be particularly happy. I hate to see graphics stagnate for 3 - 4 years because some people don't have good hardware, that's what different graphic settings are for.

Last day of Steam sales.
Pretty lackluster compared to last year's. Slightly worse than last winter's. Personally, sad face. Economically, happy face.

I guess that would depend on what you've bought. I'm pretty happy. Snagged Borderlands 2 + Season Pass, Final Fantasy VII on a Flash Sale, and Might and Magic VI/Heroes for a try.

BL2 + Season Pass went for like $13 on Amazon a week or two ago.
Nuuvem also had it for $8.64 or something with Season Pass at $9 (SOuth AMerican site, but theres no Region lock on BL2 and as long as you can navigate, there's no issue regarding buying from them)
Gamersgate also had it Season Pass for $15 and BL2 for $9.99 3 months ago according to sales histories.
FF7 and Might/Magic I can see why, although I haven't looked too deeply into Might/Magic, my backlog didn't want FF7 at that price >_> (rationalizing to avoid buying things, YAY!)

there were too many repeat sales
Skyrim was on sale at least 5-6 times
the front page, you see the same games being on sale 2 times before
Also, there were so many indie/discrete games that are on sale but lack exposure

I want to buy Monaco, since it seems fun but I think I missed it when it was 75% off. ):
Plus, it's funner if you have people to play with it.
The only thing I got was Bioshock 1 & 2.

A sale's a sale to me. If it's discounted, it's discounted. Discounted further? Great. As long as I get what I'm buying from whatever source, I'm happy.

The Avernum series was actually on the Humble Bundle weekly but that's a different matter. But we're comparing a sale to another sale. That's a bit silly if you ask me if games are already going down for buyout prices.
