Because you can't tell guess someones nationality by last name, right?
Also I'm not sure why you're targetting hispanics in your posts when anyone can be racist. Saying one nationality can be more racist than the other is highly ignorant.
I was merely pointing it out cause someone said
white privilege and last I checked Hispanics didn't fall under "
white privilege" but maybe they do now.

Uhm, that's because I've met more racist hispanic people than I've met racist white people.
I've never heard a white person say "Hay que mejorar la raza" (meaning, better to be with a whiter person than you than a darker one) at a gathering. I've heard it multiple times from hispanics - and not just South Americans, Mexicans/Central Americans too. Yes, anyone can be racist, but I specifically mentioned hispanics BECAUSE Zimmerman is hispanic. Is that reason enough for you?
Either way hispanic isn't a race. He could be white and be hispanic at the same time.

Oh, now I feel like an ignorant twat. That could explain where all this talk of white privilege is coming from.

I probably would have ignored this case (despite being black myself) because while stuff like this doesn't happen all the time, It is not uncommon. Its only the large amount of white people defending this guy that got me curious.
And while some of the evidence is sketchy at best I still don't think zimmerman should have gotten off. The guy clearly had mental issues and had delusions of grandeur for being neighborhood watch. Yea sure Trayvon Martin wasn't no saint but neither was Zimmerman and is not completely innocent based on both the evidence and background of him.
You also need to consider that he received a large amount of donations, so maybe the jury and the defense was bought off? who knows.. either way its not all that surprising to me and if I explain why I will probably stir up a tiresome flame war and get this thread locked.. meh..
I do agree that they're more important things to worry about in this country than racial issues.

If you have an issue with the outcome of this trial, you should complain about the Stand Your Ground law instead. It more or less says that you can shoot someone if you feel threatened--that you shouldn't have to run away instead. I think that's pretty messed up, but that's 'murrica for ya.

I have no problem with a law that lets me shoot people if I feel threatened. Running away just gets you stabbed/shot in the back instead of the front. Of course the issue being idiots that will go around killing people and claiming "Oh, I felt threatened. That toddler waved his sucker at me the wrong way."
So no, the law isn't the problem. The idiots who abuse it are the problem.

A law that can easily be used as a loophole like that is a problem.

Zimmerman did nothing wrong.

I don't even see why the media and everyone made this into a race conflict-especially one of "whites versus black!" when Zimmerman is half. I suppose they had to sensationalize this somehow, but it's sickening to think that if Zimmerman had been black-or Martin had been white-it wouldn't have been blown up like it has.
People kill each other everyday, I don't see people rioting over that. But suddenly play the "RACISM!" card, and people start a fucking riot.

I don't get it. Zimmerman's great grandfather/mother are black. Does the race card still matter?
Zimmerman is so racist that he stands up for a black homeless man getting beaten by the police?

It's a lot deeper than that, its not about Zimmerman's race. Or him standing up to police brutality
(edit: ok i'm not going to sugar coat it his race did play a part of it but its barely scraching the surface)
Quote from BecomeMeguca:
There wasn't enough evidence to convict Zimmerman.
And there wasn't enough evidence to justify the killing of Trayvon Martin. He should be sent to prison for killing somebody no if ands or buts.

Yes people kill each other everyday and 9 times out of 10 the killer get sent to prison. Its hilarious that people talk about the race card, when Zimmerman himself is playing the race card by profiling Trayvon Martin so he get away with murder. You don't believe Zimmerman's stories do you? look at the raw evidence and make judgement
also who is rioting? I dont see a riot just dramatic protesting

I heard of rioting in Oakland, but then again ever since that Iraq vet got shot point blank in the face with a tear gas canister it seems every protest there turns into an outright riot.

I dont know about Oakland but I dont consider the what happened in LA a 'riot'. Maybe its just my perception but when people say riot Im thinking people running around throwing rocks, throwing moltav cocktails, burning buildings, mass looting, tear gas everywhere. Clearly that didnt happen.
The journalists are link-baiting imo.(though you was reading a newspaper. is there a term for link baiting for newspapers?)

It's called sensationalism. And yes, they're definitely sensationalizing. There's barely been any unrest.
