  Not really. They pretty much said "The FDA knows better than any lawyer, so if they say it's safe it is. Nothing you can do about it."

  I always see commercials for lawyers asking if you've taken these things and if you have you should call them cause you can sue them or something so this is probably directly at that.

  Perhaps but pharmaceutical companies are irresponsible as it is, this law WILL have negative effect on consumers and the healthcare in US.

  Even now there are plenty unsafe drugs in the market. This law is just the nail on the coffin.

  Apparently 5 out of 9 supreme court judges are on drugs with severe neorological side effects.
  
  Why people are confusing the FDA with the pharmaceutical industry is beyond me.

  It would be silly to assume the FDA scientists always make perfect judgements, that's not how science works, unless you pour billions upon billions of dollar into it. They did more for the US citizens health than against it in their history, that's for sure.
  
  But yes, they should be help accountable to an extent together with the drug industry. Errors are still errors.

  An interesting side point for those who are clueless on the topic is that the FDA has created some very strict quality standards that chemical engineers must follow when they make drugs. A friend of mine is in the field and he says that that on its own can be a challenge.
  
  As for this story, I do find it rather odd that they can't be held accountable. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a misunderstanding here, lol.
