I could try that.
As for the Violins part, I tried it but it sounds pretty horrible with it. I am not sure it is because it is on 3ML3 or anything, but it just took everything out. There's no trumpets in Mabinogi, so best I can do is a tuba.
But yea, I would like to make it more instrument rich but limited in what Mabinogi has.
Voices is actually played on the same player as you hear the drums and the mandolin. xD
I'll try the flute and maybe add more tubas.
Edit: Do you suppose I should have the male voice accompany the female voice 24/7? I had the male voice only accompany the female voice for the first half then drop off but only add as a support voice as the tuba later.
Q.Q I hope it's only 3mle because I was planning to compose so much with voices + violins
o: does that mean there can be a total of 5 instruments + 8 voices in a jam band or 5 instruments + 5 voices only? I will probably never use that many voices but it's good to know ^.^
In the intro you had a grand opening with the mandolin leading since mandolins are great with high notes and is loud enough to make an impact. But then it kinda faded out during the middle part and it almost feels like the vocals were reluctant to lead due to their low volume. At the ending there was a moderate amount of clashing between the instrument and the female vocal both of them fighting for the lead again but neither was enough to actually take control.
With the current female vocal I agree on her being support, but it feels slightly lacking in the main theme, might wanna add another instrument to that or increase her volume since she's the lead on that part; while at the end, consider lowering her volume so the two don't fight
You managed to get the male and female vocals to work together very well imo; Is there a way to change the female to being higher pitched though? It sounded like she was singing her lungs out when it came to the higher notes that you're using.
If you manage to tune the female up so she doesn't try to sing notes out of her range, then it might be a better idea to have her act as the lead for the entire ensemble since this song would be in the perfect range for her, but then you'll have to change or remove the instrument used in the intro.
Might be a bit overwhelming, lemme sum up my thoughts for you :P
Current Contralto:
- Works really well with male, the two never fight and one is always there to balance the other out if the instruments aren't enough to do so
- Occasionally sings off note
- Fantastic support in intro
- Lacks strength in the main theme to lead, either boost her volume up or get another instrument in
- Clashes at the end with the instrument, volume at ending is good enough if you want a soothing end so either lower her volume or the instrument's. You might have to do more than that, I wouldn't know
Hypothetical replacement Mezzo-Soprano/Soprano:
- Will have to add more male in the song to balance things out
- Song is in perfect range for female vocal to lead; will not sing off course
- Will clash with mandolin in intro, lowering volume most likely won't do so either one has to go
- Works fine in the main theme as it is currently
- Will still clash at the end with instrument but vocal will be more superior to lead - less work necessary to fix it
Edit: Btw, although this probably fits better in the multimedia topic, it's still mabi related and I almost never check that forum so moderators please don't move q.q I'd like to see progress on this
