A busy channel wouldn't cause a laptop to disconnect every minute while other devices are mostly fine, methinks. But it doesn't hurt to try. I also suggest you try updating your router's firmware. It's possible that it'll contain a bug fix or performance enhancement for wifi. (Not to mention security fixes.)
You'll have to access your router's control panel. Usually it's at
http://192.168.0.1 or
http://192.168.1.1
The interface is different for different manufacturers, but basically you want to find some sort of About page where the current software version is listed. Then go to the manufacturer's site and see if there's an update for your router's model. Be sure to pay attention to the Hardware Revision when you select an update.
You would then typically upload the file to the router through the web control panel and it will reboot, etc.
If you want to change the wireless channel, it'll be under wireless settings. I would recommend setting it to Auto, however.. if it isn't already set to that.
