I read this and realized how stupid most Americans sound on a daily basis. Discuss. :x

I always hate these things because it capitalizes on the fact that some Americans are extremely ignorant.
I also blame it on the fact that the average American has little exposure to the world (we got 1 year of world history sandwiched between many years of American history, not a lot of people can afford to travel, etc) and therefore are simply unable to comprehend other places. I don't always fault people for that as much as it pisses me off - everyone needs to be a global player.
Someone's angry.

I don't see how this is about Americans being stupid. It's about realising that some things people think are just wrong, and giving a friendly reminder about the actual situation. It's a kind of "hey, you know what, I don't want to be rude but maybe you should take a shower, you smell a little and the girls probably won't like it".
There's no anger in what he wrote, or it is very well veiled.

That blog post is actually quite true for... the most part. I can understand how many Americans would find it as inappropriate criticism, but yeah.
Loved the video they embedded within, so reposting it here:

It's from a HBO series called The Newsroom. I wonder if it's worth looking into. x3

Most of the things listed are pure common sense that applies to quite a few countries.
In an age of GPS and digital maps, most people in most Developed countries couldn't point a lot of nations out on a map. Not just an American thing. :I
I have to agree with Claudia, most of the time these articles capitalize on the gross ignorance of a few people and claim it's the thoughts held by "all or most" Americans. It's not really fair to claim this of all Americans unless you asked every single American these questions (though I realize that's not probable/possible).
Just like, hey, seeing 20 angry Arab men on TV and then assuming all Arab men hate us. Funny, that.
