IT, can be fun but sometimes it has quite some annoying things.

I remember having to go to this customer who wanted to change the location of his workplaces.
Thing was all the wires weren't grouped together and all under cobweb and dust.
I just happend to have some white clothes on (sunny day).
I think I have never been that dirty...

Or when you go to a customers workplace and they end up having IBM's of 10 years old and expect you to make them "faster" because they have been running slow for some "weird" reason.

What are your experiences with customers?

I never really worked under the IT industry, although we employ IT people here at work, just no interaction with the customers.

IT consultant here, so instead of experiencing the horrors of one company I get to see new ones every day. Some customers are so retarded it hurts.

Reminds me of a call one of my colleagues had.

Customer: The internet stopped working and the box thingy(router) doesn't show any lights.
Colleague: Are you sure the power is on?
Customer: What do you think I'm retarded
He then hang up the phone angry.

Then later the day he called back:
Customer: Yeah, I'm calling to say sorry. The power was off after all.

Appeared he didn't have a wake on lan or hard switch router.
So when they had a power-out they never thought of turning on the router again.

But aren't those sort of things standard nowadays? I know most of my routers I've used in the past few years turn themselves back on when the power goes out or they are unplugged.

Yeah most of them do.
Thing was his didn't so he had to manually turn it on again.
