That's kind of public humiliation.

I'm curious as to what possessed you to possible cause you to think this is a good idea.
I mean, unless you'd like being named and shamed for what you've done to get banned so you can have people laugh at you.

It's kind of obvious what someone gets banned for.
>Person posts furry porn and screams BRONY4LYFE.
>Person gets banned
Gee, I wonder why.

I skim-read this and it didn't sound like a bad idea; then I noticed the 'what rule they broke' part.
If it did provide a link
just to the rules, I can't see it being a bad thing. Quite pointless, but not humiliation since we still wouldn't know why they were banned. It would just be a polite reminder as to what the rules are. Like I said, quite pointless, but still...

Reason why people get banned (this applies always):
They broke the rules multiple times.
__
We never manual-ban anymore, unless obvious bot, troll, etc.
All bans for the past LONGTIME have been because of the semi-automatic-ban system from infractions.

If you really wanna know why someone is banned.
1. Go to their profile look at the lastest posts.
2. Ask the person himself why he is banned

You can also ask staff, but it has to be via PM, not in a public place.

But it's kind of rude to start asking why "Person A" and "Person B" were banned. What if they requested to be banned for personal reasons? I don't think a normal member should have a right to ask why somebody was banned.
When you see a person banned, just assume they accumulated quite a few infraction points. Then move on.

If they requested to be banned, then the reason given should be "They requested to be banned", pretty simple. The only exception to this could be if the matter pertained people that could cause harm to the banned person.
Its also perfectly reasonable to ask why someone was banned if they're a heavy poster, and you're wondering why they actually got banned.

I just find it really rude. If the banned person wanted people to know why they were banned, they'd let you know via messaging service...not by letting moderators or admins blurb out reasons why.
