Well I found some laptops I got interested in, are any of these good?:
-MSI C Series CX61 0NF-258US
-Asus N56VJ-DH71
-Lenovo y510p sli
-Acer Aspire V3-771G-9809 (my friend say this is good)
-Lenovo Ideapad y500 (my friend also says this is good)
Yes, I hear the lenovo y500 is good, but i also hear its more of a desktop replacement laptop, meaning the battery life isn't as good as it could be unless you want to gimp the performance. However, if you're going to be hooked up all the time, it should be fine.
Also, keep in mind that to unlock its full potential, you need to make use of the smart bay and purchase another graphics card the is adapted to the smart bay from lenovo. Adding this second graphics card will greatly increase power consumption when the card is in.
The acer aspire, weighing in at 7.05 lbs, is very heavy for a laptop. Not the best choice for mobility. Also, acer ranks among some of the least reliable computer companies, so you might want to watch out. You may be taking your computer to get it repaired often.
Lenovo and Asus are both quite reliable. Lenovo/IBM is also known for its Thinkpad line, which is arguably one of the most popular low budget laptops on the market. And those are quite reliable.
In terms of reliability, I'm not sure about MSI. There are a lot of mixed reviews about it, its kinda like the '08 alienware of today IMO. Place your bets.
Personally, I'd go with either Lenovo or the Asus.
