OK. This thread has some major problems. Initially I ignored them in the name of keeping peace, but damn it, I won't let it go on.
Why are so many of you recommending a fishbowl? Fishbowls are cruel because they are hardly capable of the filtration required for a fish. They can hardly be cleaned, and what goes in the substrate stays in the substrate, impacting the health of the fish. If you decide to put your fish in a fishbowl, expect yourself to become one of those imbeciles who sees fish as "replaceable" and buys a new fish every month because your old one died of ich/air bladder disease/parasites/etc. due to the horrible conditions of a fishbowl.
Damn it, check out sites like this before choosing to abuse an animal.
Um, when did someone mention a fishbowl?
In fact, the only size tank that was mentioned when you were" initially ignoring them to keep the peace" was by Sin and I, Sin said that they dont need big tanks, which is true, one fish=not very large tank? I said I kept it in a vase thing with a plant (which now that I looked up, is called a betta fish vase) it can be cleaned with a sink...Very well to, its just like washing something that you would eat off of, you do it carefully, and the substrate can also be cleaned very well, heres a picture of what im talking about, although mine was a bit larger

and I checked my first fish lived for 5 years in that...
