So I'm confused about something, why is the galaxy note 3 only 299 while the galaxy note 2 is nearly 700 dollars? Is the price tag for preorder only or what?

Note 3 is $770. It's $299 with a 2 year contract.
If American mobile companies are anything like Canadians, you'll be paying for a $80 per month contract.

So If I have an upgrade it will be 299?

People keep forgetting that in the long run of a contract, you end up paying thousands of dollars to the service providers.

I'm probably going to get the lowest data plan anyway..

Have fun.
Since they changed the plans to 2 years without lowering costs, you end up paying more on a monthly basis.
With phone upgrades and such where the original plan was 3 years now switching to 2, they make you take add ons (at least one service provider I know of) until you match the minimum price for the data plan.

Well, you shouldn't get it. Phones and tablets get replaced once every season or two anyways.
Before you know it, your device will be outdated and you'll still be paying for your phone for the next year and a half.

Isn't that with like almost every tech product? I'm not sure why you say I shouldn't get it besides paying for the contract. It's always been an unfair deal. I use my phone a lot during the day and I wanted to try something new besides an iphone. If you have any other reasons why I shouldn't get this phone please list
