Wait guys, I don't think that's the whole story. There's a lot more coverage about it over here in NYC.
- The cyclists swarmed the car, and one biker intentionally bumped the front of the car in an attempt to make it seem like the driver was at fault.
- The motorcyclists at first began keying the victim's car when he stopped.
- Panicking, the driver steps on the pedal, unintentionally running over a biker.
- High speed chase ensues.
- Eventually the driver has to stop from NYC traffic, this is when several bikers come and attack the car, dragging victim out and beating him while his wife and two year old kid watch.
The biker gang Hollywood Stuntz has already had several videos up on Youtube where they do similar acts, all taped, but the bikers are trying to plead innocent and say that the victim is the one at fault for first running over and paralyzing their fellow biker. (Which is a load of bullshit)
The victim, having his neck broken and being heavily beaten, will possibly never walk again and (I think) is expected to come out of his coma with a mental condition.
Also, misleading title. And didn't read any of the responses so I don't know if anyone's already talked about all of the above.
From what I've read, the sequence of events is as follows:
1. Hollywood Stuntz, an underground group of motorcycle stuntmen and stuntwomen, decided to hold a non-sanctioned event on the New York highway.
2. The Hollywood Stuntz group tried to "take over the highway", aka block off the highway so the group could do stunts on a completely open road (which is illegal).
3. Alexian Lien was driving his wife and baby daughter in a Range Rover on the highway when the motorcyclists were trying to take over the highway. Lien continued to drive like normal and did not stop like the motorcyclists would have hoped.
4. Christopher Cruz, one of the members of the group, cut off Lien and brake-checked him to get Lien to stop. Unfortunately, he didn't have the foresight to realize that a motorcycle stops faster than a car, but he was only lightly bumped and was not injured.
5. Lien stopped and the motorcyclists surround Lien on all sides. Heated words are exchanged. Some motorcyclists proceed to beat on the Range Rover with their helmets, and one of the Range Rover's tires are slashed.
6. Edwin Mieses, the man who was paralyzed, was supposedly trying to help the uninjured Cruz, but it may have been that Mieses was part of the angry mob that was forming around the Range Rover.
7. Knowing that the motorcyclists intended to use violence against him, Lien, in his attempt to get away, runs over Mieses and several other motorcyclists.
8. Some members of the group pursue Lien as he flees.
9. The motorcyclists corner Lien and one motorcyclist attempts to open the Range Rover's door and take Lien out. However, Lien is able to drive off.
9. Lien drives into Manhattan traffic and is stuck.
10. The members of the group that have caught up to him take him out of his car and beat and slash him in front of his wife and baby daughter.
11. Some people on the street attempt to stop the violence, and Lien is eventually taken to the hospital to be treated.
I wrote the title as it is because I didn't want to interject my own opinion before giving everyone a chance to read the article.
