Okay, so... I'm gonna try Mabi again.
Here's the thing though, it's been a while. A LONG while and while I have been keeping up with patch notes, I don't really know what all the changes and updates have done to the world of Mabi.
Umm... Last time I played, it was in Chap. 3. I think I stopped playing seriously around Gen 11.
What I'm looking for exactly:
-A concise guideline as to what has occurred in Mabi after Chapter 3.
-I used to play a giant and I'll probably restart playing that character. What has changed for giants? New skills, builds, strategies, etc.
-I was mostly closed combat with some alchemy on the side. What's new with those two combat professions?
-What new combat options are there?
-How fucked is the in-game economy?
-Where do people go to level these days?
-What are some cool things to check out?
-Has Nexon gotten any better?
-Anything else that might prove useful.
I know I'm asking for lots and I don't expect you wonderful people to have enough free time to help me with all my questions. So... if you could link to some guides that could prove useful... That would be cool.
THANKS!

Lances are top-dog for melee now. They have a piercing stat which ignores some Prot and Def. Also, Str now adds 1 def for every 10 str you have. Giants can use a shield with their lance also. There's armor/shield mastery now, tanking is pretty viable, especially for giants.
-What new combat options are there?
Puppetry, and Gunner are the new skillsets. As well, Melee has Lances, which are slightly different to traditional melee in that you need to be a certain distance away to strike. Too close and you can't hit anything.
-How fucked is the in-game economy?
Gacha stuff is very expensive. However, materials and such are very cheap since back in the day. Basically, if it's not fashionogi, it's generally affordable to anyone who plays seriously.
-Where do people go to level these days?
Do dailies every day and VIPs if you get premium service. Martial Arts with a party who know their stuff is great EXP too.
-What are some cool things to check out?
G18. So many benefits to doing it your first time around.
-Has Nexon gotten any better?
Well they've given us free inv service since long ago and lots of beginner benefits to new players. Nexon is still Nexon though.
-Anything else that might prove useful.
I'm not sure when Special Upgrades were introduced, but Red Special Upgrades are great. You'll be smashing high as hell on crit with them.
Oh yeah, biggest shock I got when coming back was that the game throws AP at you all the time now with Daily Shadow Missions, Daily Saga, and events. Lv'ing is a lot easier, I think they changed the amount of exp needed or something. I quit right before G10, back then we got to like lv 50 or so before rebirth on average. Coming back, reaching 100 is no sweat at all.

So I should definitely check out Lances then, right? I was usually rocking DW Morning stars or the occasional 2H Blunt. Is lance with a shield a better option?
ALSO: What's up with Talents? Do you just pick them at your RB or something?

Yeah, nothing beats mowing down a line of enemies with a mounted crit lance charge. Just make sure you're proficient in your warrior melee skills also. What you prioritize is up to you. Get all of dat' str also. Stat stacking really makes a difference. Giants getting to use a shield with lance is great not only for the defense, but the fact that a shield is also room for more enchants.
I also forgot to mention there's a fighter skillset now too, which giants benefit from more than other races. I'm not a fighter, so I really can't give advice there.
Talents are basically the skillsets. Your
Active Talent that you pick at rebirth effects additional stats upon level up, and 2x training for skills in that talent. The full list of your talents is basically how far along you are in a skillset. The higher you go, the more stat bonuses you get from them. As well, once you reach master you can try for grandmaster on one talent for more stat boosts.

Thanks! And one last question for now:
Since I was part fighter part alchemist in the past, would it be beneficial do rock a lance and a guard cylinder? Or would it be better to go full on combat and do lance and a better shield?
EDIT: Oh, didn't see that guard cylinders aren't implemented yet.

Guard Cylinder isn't out yet, but if you want to do alchemy without switching slots, yeah. I think a lot of giant players will start doing that.

I didn't see either of you mention it, but since you quit after Chapter 3, keep in mind that the entire combat system had an overhaul.
A lot of skills that used to have loading times now have cooldowns, sometimes even both.

o.O That sounds like that would take some getting used to.

Welcome back although you should be happy you have a proficient giant to fall back on hehe. Just the other day I saw a level 2XXX giant soloing RD with knight lance+vales shield

That's become something so fundamental now that I totally forgot about that, haha.
Then: We windmilled everything.
Now: We smash everything.
Combat has become more fluid, but as a result a lot of players will say it's much much easier. Especially since the monsters retain the old skill load times.

Even though it isn't that big of a deal,Windmill is one of those skills with a cooldown...but you can load skills even if an enemy manages to hit you (like Counter...though most probably don't use that anymore).
Windmill also lost its Invincibility frames too. But everything makes up for that...

DONT DESPAIR
All you need as a giant is
a) decent knight lance
b) NPC vales shield
c) some str
SOLO ALLLL THE DRAGONS (besides W and BD of course).

Yeah, but as a giant, you won't really notice it, since it'll come off of cooldown pretty much by the time the animation ends. Like Smash. Really, the only skills you'll notice a cooldown on are Defense (if it activates), Counter (if you're not using knuckles), and Charge/Lance Charge. And if you didn't listen to me and train Throwing Attack to R1 when I told you back in Immortals, have fun training it now, since you have to wait 7 seconds between each throw.
