Just found some video of my first ever videogame, was also my favorite video game up to the mid 90's. This played on a prehistoric Amiga PC from the late 80's, using a joystick.

I played it when I was like 5 years old.
You just need to have a unit on each of the weird glowy tiles. Other than that it plays a little bit like chess only you have to battle the unit you land on instead of just taking the piece away.

It's essentially chess-meets-strategy/RPG.
