For 7, why does melee need re-balancing again? Are you referring to how dual wield, maces, and axes are grossly outclassed by lances?
I am. I just think they need to do something to keep the older weapon types relevant. Even if it's more fun in their usage rather than a buff in damage.. they need to keep people's interest unless they just want all the things they create to be wasted within the game, don't you think?
And to be honest.. why don't swords have piercing? They're supposed to be the ideal weapons for such a thing. Now I admit, it makes a lot of sense for lances to have it, and even more so than swords, but there's one flaw with it, if we're talking sense. Lances should only have the piercing effect when using a straight forward type of attack. I don't honestly use Lance Counter often enough to remember if it jabs, so I can't count that one. But for Windmill and Assault Slash, lances would not be piercing anything, as their tips aren't stabbing anything directly. Only normal attacks and Smash would logically have piercing effect applied. Swords however are edged all around, body and tip; they should at least have a lower level of piercing(and not just with event enchants from the SAO crossover, it should be an option regardless). Blunt weapons would still fall to the wayside applying this logic sadly.. but masteries could be boosted to slightly compensate for it. They just don't seem pierce-capable in my opinion. Axes as well should have a smaller level of pierce than swords.. you can see they're getting on the right idea with this since they added armor piercing to them.. though it's a rather useless stat so that effort was.. well, in vain. xD;
The fact of the matter remains however, they've made all other melee weapons aside from lances rather obsolete with all the new content they push out. I mean hell, lances reduce nearly every mob in the game to no defense and more than likely no protection now.. yet every other style has to have their damage halved or more.. it's just not right if you ask me. Now I don't think every weapon in the game should be capable of reducing defenses, because then what's the point of said defenses, right? But if they added more skills that made the sets more viable for strategy, and still as useful as raw damage, they wouldn't be so likely to be tossed aside.
But anyway haha xD I'm very thankful to see my ideas being submitted! :3 Thank you so much for the chance. nwn
And I'm also very supportive of the other ideas that have been submitted. Gold pouches especially hits me right there. 480k for 26 points of demonic swords is more than half a 6x10 pet inventory, and man is that a pain. At least the big inventory bags are free now, though. xD
