So I was asking my dad about putting my computer as a DMZ or w.e on our router and he said it bypasses security so he wont do it, and if I touch it I'll get kicked out. (not like anything personal is on my laptop.)
So he says that if the game isn't working you shouldn't be play it. He thinks that the gaming companies are using the games to put viruses onto our computers. .___.

hmm. Having DMZ on = all your ports are open = huge security risk....
He's right. And that doesn't have anything to do with games.

I know that, and I'm careful about what I do but alaplaya recommended it as a fix to a hacking trial error.
But the main point no matter what company, what game, he thinks they all put viruses on our computers

It doesn't matter what you do if you have all your ports open. It's like having a sign on the internet saying "HERE IS MY COMPUTER, COME DO BAD STUFF TO IT".
If the staff of alaplaya is giving the advice of activating DMZ, they are assholes. They should give the port numbers for the game so you can open them manually.
Eitherway, you can figure out the ports with netstat or other software like wireshark.

They did and it didn't fix the problem. I'm not putting my computer on the DMZ list anyway so as to why you still continue to push that topic is beyond me.

My dad doesn't trust anything on the internet. He thinks everything gives viruses.

At least my sister is like me :/

e.e portfowarding.
I hate doing it. It seems as if it works for only some computers.

My dad too.. so he doesn't let me on his stock-trading computers, but I don't really care...
My mom however, doesn't want me on MY computer because of viruses from games..
