  There's a difference between scary and macabre. The usual halloween fare is tame, though the best bits are legitimately scary. You jump, your heart skips a beat, and afterwards you laugh and congratulate whoever it was that got you.
  
  A rotting, detailed half-corpse is just gross. It's not scary so much as it is unpleasant. I'm not opposed to curtailing it in terms of public display, though it'd make a potentially sweet basement set-up for consenting consumption.
