Was it a mistake to replace my bow?

  A while back when I found out Wine Making was a little broken, I decided I might want to get a masterpiece bow. I sold all my blue upgrade stones and bought a Masterpiece bow with Ice 1 and Lightning 1. I was thinking it was an ok investment since:
  
  A. I have 1.3m Ducats so I should be fine with repairs for a very long time.
  B. The elemental enchants seem ok.
  C. I wouldn't have to stress over upgrading at all.
  D. Since archery will not be my main attacking weapon (it's more of a secondary along with my lance) I don't need to fund myself with it that much.
  
  However, I curiously looked up how the masterpiece compared with the HLB and most people were saying with a fully upgraded HLB it can out damage a masterpiece greatly...and then it made me wonder if replacing my HLB was a mistake.
  
  What do you guys think? I still have the HLB since I was unable to sell it so it's not too late to start from where I left off, but it'll be expensive to buy back all those Blue ups along with market coupons since wine making is fixed. Inputs would be appreciated.

  Masterpiece bow is alright but you will want to move on to an upgraded HLB in the long run. Also red upgrade stones would be better for the HLB rather the blue stones.

  Once you get past a point with ranged damage, eventually Red upped HLB> Masterpiece bow. But if you only plan on using it as a secondary set and dont plan on getting it to pass that point, masterpiece bow is probably a decent fix. I believe (Correct me if I'm wrong) that if you have over 360 max attack with the Masterpiece bow, then the critical hits from the HLB will be able to outdamage the masterpiece bow more often then not. Also, the ele reforge seems kind of negligible to me since the specific mob needs to have a certain elemental attribute. It's nice extra damage here and there, but definitely not worth putting into consideration when deciding if you want to go R HLB.

My lance that I spent perfecting, I spent 2-3m just to get it to s5 so it really drained me of money. I don't want to run my funds try again haha.

  Masterpiece bow will be a good weapon for beginner rangers. So for now, keep it, but do try to invest in a HLB, and red up it. Usually, around 320 max with HLB, you'll see that you do more damage with red up'd HLB. Also, the elemental reforge that you have on your bow are both level 1... meaning they won't do anything to neutral mobs. Like others, said, blue is inferior and is therefore a waste. Blue up'd HLB is like only 20 max higher than MPB, so you can imagine how much of a negligible damage it would be when it comes to crit, especially compared to red HLB. I'd only make blue bow under three conditions: 1. It's your first ranged weapon 2. You don't wanna make an ego but wanna have a bow that damages about the same (enchants added in) 3. You're at a point where any crit will pew pew mobs in general, so red or blue it doesn't matter, so you decide to go for pure damage. You fall into none of these conditions.
  
  And as a lancer using range as secondary and puppet now as tertiary, I cannot stress too much about how important range is. Your sentence about D is wrong. Even though it'll be your "secondary", you'll probably use cs whenever, support before smash whenever, AR and mag spam. So yes, you would need about the same investment, because eventually, it could end up as one of your primary skillset. Mainly, what you'd want to do is crash shot first, then switch to lance and windmill everything. In my case, my cs can go upto 12k, and other frags do about 6~7k, so in harder elite rooms, that just leaves my lance windmill to clean up everything in one wm. Also, human bowmill is good, especially with elemental reforges.

  I'm sorry to say this... but you might wanna ditch that lance soon.
  1. It's demonic.
  2. You s-upgraded it. Lance has no point in using s upgrades.
  
  And no, don't consider costs into special upgrading. Special upgrading is meaning less with blue stones, unless it's on magic weapons.
  
  Post your whole gear so that we can optimize your set for melee, range, and well, everything else.

  Just as a rule of thumb. Red> Blue. 360 (or 320, idfk) is the point where the damage that blue upgrade stones adds to weapons becomes less than that of what red ups add. And eventually you will have the money to invest into red ups, so its actually more cost effective to make a bow that can take you through to the future than having to remake it with red ups later on. And like ironwoman said, lances particularly (along with all other melee weps) should be prioritzed to red ups, because with blue upgrades, there is a limit on the amount of additional damage your weapon will add, making it much less of a damage return. But if you red upgrade, the more your stats increase, the more damaging the crits become, and they increase significantly quicker than blue upgrades. If the reason you bought blue ups was cheap, your call lol. But there's a reason that red ups cost more than blue. Lucky for me I do mage, so my bank doesn't get decimated on red ups :D!

  1. Even if I do lose 100 dex, it's honestly fine to me. It is a secondary main, but I would rather not spend more money just to try and switch armors during battle to have better damage for my bow. :P
  2. I er...cost has been the main problem for enchants (dexterity is 700-800k now and that's practically almost half the money I have currently). As for enchants on my bow well...I actually kind of invested into this.

  1. Range will start out as your secondary, but the more you rank it, more often you'll use it. Yes, it's worth to switch to light armor or clothing just for range. And not just range, puppets too. Also, fun fact: if you have a bohemian set with ss effects, the support smash with bohemian will do more than support smash with thames.
  2. Didn't say you had to buy them. Dex are common enough drop, and you can buy oblivion from the seal shop.
  3. You really don't need it unless you're using fighter, and even then, you still have charging strike.
  
  And throw away the wingbow, wingbow's pretty much useless special upgraded, unless it has ele and max damage 20 level.

  1. Ah...if so, what kind of light clothing should I get? Any in general or something specific? I kind of want to have my thames on mostly if I do switch between light and heavy armor.
  2. Oh...-facepalm-. For some reason I was only thinking I could buy them. I mean if I had the will to hunt for AR 8 I guess I could hunt for them.
  3. Maybe...but reforging would require some money and if not, some nx. If I had more funds in my bank I'd probably reforge.
  4. I actually am planning to upgrade the wing since it has nice enchants on it. I was thinking of a crit path + red upgrades over ego since ego I know I would be too lazy to try and maintain + wing bows aren't cheap to get and repair the ego so...special upgrade path seems better haha.

  Is it? I have no idea xD. But, if it is idk, it seems a bit expensive in my budget range for me to burn it, and then re-enchant it onto my R2 3/5 HLB (which was the first bow I got starting out in archery). I was hoping with the wing bow I could save some money from buying marketplace coupons and invest it in red ups instead. Plus I don't risk the enchant burn failing and 2m going down the drain lol.

  1. I'd recommend Encore Champion Gamyus. Gamyus you have to buy, and the enchants you have to hunt. Otherwise, I'd just hunt champion ES from the raid, get it and put it on a cheap light armor like linen cuirass or lorica segmentata. Then you can put special/duelist or boiling.
  2. AR 8's not as hard as people make it sound to be. I'm sure you can solo Alby int for 4 easily. I mean, I did when I was total level 800, and that was just before destinies came in.
  3. Sadly, yes it'd require money since you can't hunt those or get mysterious tool like they do in Korea. What I'd recommend is when daily missions are those that give pretty good amount of gold compared to the time spent (like offering, BFT2, Shadow wizard if you manage to pick up all the gold, SS if you manage to get dexterity), you could see yourself netting 300k in about 20~30 minutes if done right.
  4. Because crit is so stupidly easy to get, I'd rather make this a range bow and use it for rafting.
  
  And from personal experience, enchanting wise, it's much easier to put Lion Hunter's than Glorious.
