Anyone still play? Kinda bored of breeding in Pokemon at the moment and I kinda wanna hunt monsters but most people I usually play with aren't available until the weekend. >.>
I'm a HR7 Dual Sword User looking to branch over to Gunlances.
Nintendo is stupid and didn't allow online play on 3DS wish I could join you though.
3DS version is more for like couch play connectivity oddly enough, I tried it once with my friend before I got it on Wii U for myself. I still have both versions and transferred my data back to my 3DS for the moment since I'm stuck playing solo for a bit. Pretty trying to get S. Zinogre and Steel Uragaan Armor sets, in additon to some Gunlances.
Isn't monster hunter kind of like Vindictus?
No leveling system whatsoever.
Which means no classes, no skill trees, no "progression" so to speak besides getting gear and progressing from there.
I don't see the attraction.
Its simplicity yet challenging nature, the vast amounts of different monsters with different attacking patterns, all the unique weapon classes (13), team play(since you kinda share deaths and you're only allowed 3 per run)
The leveling up RPG elements are there, it's just all in your equipment.
Basically your weapon of course determines your damage. Your armor however is not only your Defense, but also your passive skills. Skills range from More HP/ATK/DEF to more complex skills like larger buffs from having full HP or doing more damage with certain weapons, resistance to the screams and roars of monsters, quakes, status ailments(there's a lot of them), even the elements themselves.
TLDR; RPG elements are in the equipment(mostly the armor), there's a lot of shit you can do.
Or basically Vindictus without all the dungeon crawling bullshit.
Or even you fight big things and make equipment of it in order to fight bigger things (rinse and repeat until pain in the ass end boss)
There is character customization, so why cant it be considered an RPG? I wouldn't call it RPG though, it's not really role playing if you don't have a unique identity. Original concept of RPG like Dungeon and Dragon require you to pick specific characteristics, I don't feel monster hunter has met the requirement to be a role playing game.
